To-Do Weekly Update #50 – End of March
This is our 50th edition of our weekly to-do list. We are closing in on a year of doing this weekly list, and I cannot thank Christine enough! This weekly list has really kept us on track and motivated to complete those check marks. I share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Monday, and Tuesday’s linky party can be found on Christine’s Stitch All the Things website. ~smile~
To-Do for the week March 19th through March 25th:
- At least two more rows of Postcard – √ done
- Sew another row on Jigsaw – √ done
- Sew the binding down on Regatta for a March finish – √ done
To-Do #1
I took a different approach this week to my Postcard HSTs. I chain pieced rows 7, 8, 9 and 10 all at one time – vroom, vroom! Then I ironed them all, and next it was time for trimming. I was able to get two rows trimmed one day and two the next. That allowed me to get FOUR rows together this week. We are over the halfway point . . . seven rows to go. The end is in sight, right?!!
To-Do #2
Sewing another row on the Jigsaw baby quilt was an easy task. The blocks for rows 3 and 4 were already buttonholed so it’s just a matter of a few seams. Finish them off with a good pressing and a few more seams and here we are!
You are also see a two blocks of the t-shirt quilt on the design wall. We are making great progress on both projects!
To-Do #3
I am so happy with how our Regatta quilt turned out. I will share a separate post about it for our March OMG link up, but here is a shot of the backing called Oil Slick (from Joann’s). It is a rather heavy/dense 100% cotton fabric. We thought the blues played nicely with the water/sea color on the front, and we used it for the binding as well. We’ve washed and dried the quilt and it came out great – nice and quilty soft.
March OMG Goal:
Our Elm Street Quilts March OMG goal is to square up, layer, quilt and bind the Regatta quilt. We’ve got it all finished up. Woot woot!
To-Do March 26th through April 1st:
- Buttonhole two rows of Jigsaw
- Sew at least two more rows on Postcard
- Start on an I Spy quilt for Dominic
- Hoppy Easter and happy April Fool’s Day
We wish you a week filled with many blessings and good sewing/quilting vibes!

Roseanne, awesome progress! It’s fun seeing your updates each week. So many projects, so much variety. 😊
Oh, great progress on all fronts! I am so happy your Regatta is finished. Mine is not, sadly, but it will be a priority next month, I hope. The puzzle pieces looks so great from a distance. People often show small quilters only up close, and I like getting the overall effect. The postcards quilt is looking fabulous!
Hi Susan,
Well, don’t you have just the nicest things to say! Thank you so much! I am very pleased with how the Postcard is turning out, and the same for Jigsaw. I look forward to seeing your Regatta finished but remember there is no hurry or deadline. ~smile~ Roseanne
Well done on getting your regatta finished. 🙂 … kinda curious to know how many out there are done now. Mine is still stalled…. silly really, but I did start it knowing that life would probably get too busy!
Well done Roseanne! What a beautiful puzzle❤️❤️
You are really coming along with the Postcard quilt! The Jigsaw top is looking great too, and hurray for getting some of the t-shirt blocks ready!
I have no doubt you can ,get your goal! I wanted to ask if you want any flannel pieces for the fabric I am sending you. I have quite a few “I spy” usable fabric in flannel.
Hi Chris,
No flannel please and your package went out in today’s mail. Thank you for asking! If you find you don’t have anything, don’t worry about it. It’s no big deal. ~smile~ Roseanne
Wow, you’ve been busy!! I, too, love your baby jigsaw puzzle. Are the “knobs” appliqued?
You had a great week with your projects. I think I used the purple version of oil slick on my Regatta too!
That jigsaw quilt is looking good! I am looking forward to seeing your postcard quilt.
Really like your jigsaw puzzle quilt. Did you make up the pattern? I’ve never seen it with circles before, only squares.
Hi Linda,
We did make up the pattern. I was going to make it into a tutorial, and wanted to draw it out in EQ8. But that has kind of fallen by the wayside unfortunately because I haven’t taken the time to learn EQ8 yet. Maybe yet this year . . . ~smile~ Roseanne
