To-Do Tuesday #215 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 215th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We are joining Chris at her To-Do Tuesday linky party.

To-Do for the week of June 1st – 7th:

  1. Settle on a June OMG project – √ Done
  2. Quilt our arrows for the Follow QAL – Not done
  3. Start enjoying Sue’s birthday month – √ Done

To-Do #1

For our June One Monthly Goal, we are making a table topper. We shared our post on Patty’s linky party at her website, Elm Street Quilts. Made featuring flip flops and flowers, it is going to be given to Sue’s sister, Janice. We think it will be perfect for the start of summer and to match her kitchen towels featuring flip flops.

I started the appliqué process using Schmetz non-stick needles. Thanks to Vasudha (Storied Quilts) who mentioned them in her post a while back, I picked some up at the Fat Quarter Shop. WOW! Do they make a difference! There were no issues with the adhesive sticking to the needle at all – it was slick as butter or perhaps Teflon. Nifty and I highly recommend them!

To-Do #2

There’s an upcoming quilt parade on the 15th for our arrow quilt. Sandra’s quilt-along called Follow Your Own Path started in early April. I suspect I’ll be doing some FMQ on Saturday to get it all ready for the linky party!

To-Do #3

Sue’s birthday was yesterday and we were able to celebrate it on Sunday with the littles and some of our peeps. We’ll be celebrating all month long, including seeing my sister on the 17th. Her birthday is tomorrow!

Extra: sweet little Addison had a problem with her summer skort pieces. They were all too big around the waist – they fell right down to her ankles. Auntie Rose to the rescue! I sewed a temporary tuck in each waistband on six of her outfits. I took in some of them over two inches! Her swimsuit bottoms had to be taken in, too.

Another note – the 2021 Hands2Help charity quilt event has ended for this year. An amazing 197 quilters participated donating 1044 quilts. Thank you to all who participated and to Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for organizing this huge event.

June OMG

Our one monthly goal (OMG) project for June is to complete flip flops and flowers table-topper. Patty at Elm Street Quilts hosts a monthly linky party and we shared our post goal.

To-Do for the week of June 8th through 14th:

  1. Continue the appliqué work on the flip flops
  2. Quilt our arrows for the Follow QAL parade on June 15th

Happy Birthday to Sue. It sounds like you should celebrate all month long…cake, cookies, and whatever your heart desires. Those flip flops are looking cute. I’ll have to get me some of the needles! Wish I needed to have my waistbands taken in! Those littles are so blessed to have Auntie Rosie to take care of things like that. Have a great week.

I’m a big proponent of celebrating birthdays all month long! Happy Birthday, Sue! I won’t have my Follow Your Own Path finished for the 15 th! But hopefully it will be at the quilter!
Addison must be in a growth spurt! Gonna be a tall thin beauty!

  10. Happy Birthday to Sue! I like the idea of celebrating all month! Looking forward to seeing your arrows quilted, too. Addison must be growing taller and staying thin. I wish I had that problem! 🙂

  11. Happy, happy birthday to Sue!! Sounds like her celebration is off to a great start! Those needles are wonderful! That is all I ever use now in my machine. I bought a box of 100 of them! LOL I can’t wait to see the flowers and flip flops table runner! That sounds like so much fun!

  12. Kathleen McCormick says:

Well, a few rounds of happy birthday singing for Sue are surely in order! So funny about Addison – those pettite ones. In fact, I was chuckling as I was wearing 2 pair of pants these last few days. Both had safety pins in them….I should fix them shouldn’t I? Good luck with your list. So pleased for Hands 2 Help this year!

  13. Cheree Hull says:

WHUT?!?! Where have these non-stick needles been my ENTIRE life?!?! I went over and put them in my Amazon cart before I finished reading the rest of this! (sorry–priorities! LOL). Not that I do a lot of applique but a girl needs to always be prepared. Happy birthday to all the June ones out there! My oldest has hers on the 28th…and I just realized she’s turning 28. Oh MYlanta (as my BIL says). I’m not old enough for a 28-yr old am I? Have a great week!!

  14. Great to know about those ‘non-stick’ needles. The use of adhesives of any sort, but particularly of the ‘tape’ types is indeed a consideration in how to manage the sewing.
I’m with Wendy – can’t have a girl losing her britches! HA!
And a Happy Birthday all around.
    🙂

  15. Happy birthday to Sue and to your sister!
Thanks for the needle applique tip, too! 🙂

  16. Karla says:

Happy Birthday to Sue! I love the idea of a month long celebration ♥ Glad you were able to get little Miss Addison summer clothes “wearable”!!

  17. Vicki in MN says:

Happy Birthday Sue and to your sister too! Addison does look like a little peanut, ya better feed her more sugar, LOL

  18. Wendy Tuma says:

Happy Birthday to Sue! You have had a good week. All of my sewing lately has been secret sewing, so I’ve had little to show on the blog. Glad you could fix Addison’s clothing; we can’t have a girl losing her britches. Haha!
