To-Do Tuesday #1 Weekly Update

Join us today for the restart on our weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Linda hosts the To-Do Tuesday linky party and we thank you so much, Linda! Many of our friends join in and share their ongoing projects and recent finishes. Be sure to check it out.

To-Do Non-Direction

So what did we do with ourselves over the nearly two-month break we took in August?! Not a whole heck of a lot as far as sewing and quilting go. We did finish and mail two Positivity 2022 quilts. Preeti, who is one of the hosts of the second annual charity QAL shared a wonderful pattern that you’ll find on her website. We used a different pattern because we had the Two and Four quilt in the works. It ended up being a mishmash quilt because I didn’t sew the pieces in columns. I never took a picture of the final quilt before it was mailed – I guess I was just off my game all around.

Shortly after the quilts went in the mail, Preeti reached out to inform me that I was one of the QAL winners. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I hadn’t even linked up a picture or anything but somehow I commented somewhere. LOOK at this beautiful collection of fabrics that showed up as happy mail!!

It’s time to pay it forward with these eight half-yard fabrics. What should we make with them?? If you have a suggestion, please let me know in the comments. We thank Benartex, Preeti, and Bernie for hosting such a wonderful quilt-along. I’m going out on a limb to say I’ll bet there will be a Positivity 2023.

To-Do Non-Direction #2

Somehow, these two blocks found their way to the sewing machine. It is a pattern from Denise at For the Love of Geese called Sail Away. In my head, I’m calling this Regatta even though we did a Regatta sew-along many moons ago with a different pattern.

We’re still using the lovely Alpaca pressing mat from Prairie Spirit Alpaca in Canada. The mat continues to impress me with it softness, lack of odor, and how nicely the blocks turn out after pressing. This project is going to make it on the list for our return to blogging and sewing.

To-Do for the week of September 20th through 26th:

  1. Get the Regatta blocks into a top
  2. One limit list for a stress-free week (we have their first soccer game to watch on Saturday!)

What a fun project, I wouldn’t mind sailing away somewhere tropical right now!

Wondered where you’d got to! Two whole quilts off to Preeti? Fantabulous! You deserve a prize! Oh, wait–that’s already been taken care of! What a fun bundle of fabrics! I never know what else to do with fabric besides quilts so I guess I think a nice little throw quilt to set off the fall decor would be fun?

  4. Welcome back!!!
Those beautiful fall fabrics will make something absolutely wonderful!
Have fun at the soccer game! 🙂

  5. So glad to see you back sewing! We all deserve a break now and then, but you were missed! Those blocks you made from Denise are very cute! I’m sure you’ll make some more and have a quilt for one of the boys in no time! Love those fall fabrics you received in the happy mail!

  6. Linda says:

Congratulations on your win, and yay on sending two quilts! I like your Regatta block, great start and love the name. I have no suggestions for those pretty fabrics, but you could pet them for awhile and see what they tell you. 😀 It’s great to have you “back” but I’m very glad you took some time off. Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

Sorry I missed this post last week! I’ve been MIA a lot! A different life dynamic for us lately! I hope all is well there and continues to feel like a return to the “normal” that you desire. Have a good week!

  8. Ha soccer has just finished for us. No more mud on my shoes! Oh what a gorgeous win of Autumn fabric, they will make a beautiful autumn quilt of some sort. Yummy. I love fall colours. The regatta sail boats look fun. Hope you got a good rest over the weeks of break and good to see only one thing on the list. But… really good to see you back.

  9. Good luck this on the regatta blocks! Looking great!

Welcome back. Finishing and sending off two quilts was quite an achievement. And congratulations on winning that fabric. I think I like the idea of a table runner or placemats. But there are lots of patterns out there and you can just look at patterns for a while. I like the idea of not filling every free moment with sewing. Are you taking another class this semester? That sure can make life stressful. Oh, an enjoy that soccer game. Watching the littles play is always so much fun.

  11. So glad to see you back, Roseanne! I enjoy seeing what you’re working on, and all that your sweet family is up to. Congratulations on your win – it will be fun to see what you make with those pretty fall prints!

  12. Kathleen McCormick says:

Those are lovely fabrics, congrats on your win! Did you do Sandra’s free fall QAL….love that pattern…and Beothuk, too would be fun! Or Quilting Gail’s carpenter star she just did is fun, too Love that you enjoyed your time and now that the air is crisper, the perfect time to get back to quilting!

  13. Wendy Tuma says:

I’m so glad you won those pretty fabrics! I don’t know whether to suggest placemats, a table runner, or a fall quilt. I wonder if Gudrun Erla designs would work for those fabrics? Lots of fun to think about!

  14. Vicki in MN says:

So happy you are back! I agree you should keep your time stress free with smaller goals. Have you tried the ‘Just 15 minutes a day’ sewing goal? Fifteen minutes isn’t a lot but you can still get a lot accomplished.
