To-Do #116 Weekly Progress Update

Happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian friends, and those who wish they were and are celebrating!  This is the 116th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We usually share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts and at Becca’s What I Made Monday website on Mondays and on Christine’s Stitch All the Things and Dione’s Clever Chameleon website on Tuesdays.  Check out what our friends are sharing!

To-Do for the week of June 24th through 30th:

  1. Pick out fabrics for Dar’s table runner –  done
  2. Resize the Cind-erella half-square triangle blocks?? – √ done
  3. Finish up the Beehive and monthly color blocks – √ done

To-Do #1

A while back my cousin, Vicki, called me and told me about a friend who was Downsizing Quilting Style.  Her good friend, Dar, was getting rid of all of her quilting fabrics.  Would we please find a home for them?  Of course, we did and now we are making a table runner for Dar using her beloved fabrics.

To-Do #2

The half-square triangles that were made for the Cind-erella quilt for Addison aren’t trimming nicely.  The blocks should be 5.5″ and finish at 5″.  Instead, I am going to trim them to 5″ with a finished size of 4.5″.  I would prefer to waste a bit of fabric and start out sewing with square blocks.  Otherwise, I know I will be cursing how the blocks aren’t going together nicely, and it will bother me in the long term.  The vacillating is over!  So, back to the cutting board, so to speak, they go and the Bloc-Loc is coming out!

To-Do #3

We were able to successfully get both the color block of the month done and the beehive blocks as well.  This first was done in two shades of orange while the second commandeered Christmas fabrics.  Both were very fun to make!  A post June HoneyBee and Monthly Color Challenge Blocks was shared last week with all the details.

June OMG

Our June OMG (one monthly goal) is to quilt and bind our Hidden Stars quilt complete.  We linked this goal on Patty’s Elm Street Quilts website and linky party.  Now it’s time to figure out our July OMG.

To-Do for the week of July 1st through 7th

  1. Feel better – both of us are struggling to fight off a virus we inherited from some sweet little ones that we love and adore
  2. Maybe start the applique on Cind-erella
  3. Enjoy some festivities with family and friends
  4. Wish you a Happy 4th of July!

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

I have done that with HST blocks too. I’d much rather have them be a bit smaller and square than not work out right when putting them together. I hope you and Sue are feeling better!

  2. I’ve had to cut down HSTs with a previous project. You’ll be glad you did. Love your orange and Christmas blocks! Hope you’re back to your spunky self by now! Mary

Hope you are winning the battle against the virus. Good thinking on the half square triangles. A fabric windfall, now that is really nice! Appliqué for Cinderella now that sounds intriguing.

I believe I have had that virus as well and if it’s the throat headache one it’s been over a week. I hope you feel better soon. I had a great Canada Day weekend thank you very much! Your big weekend is coming up and I hope its a great one for you as well. Have fun figuring out your July OMG.

  9. Feel better soon, you two. There seems to be something going around; I’ve heard quite a few friends saying they’ve had a cold or virus. Hope you get those HSTs in line too 🙂

Hope you both feel better soon, it’s hard to meet our goals when not feeling in tip top shape.
