To-Do #104 Weekly Update

This is our 104th edition of our weekly to-do list.  That is TWO YEARS of making and following a to-do list, which has been very helpful at keeping us on track.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts and at Becca’s What I Made Monday website on Mondays, and Christine’s Stitch All the Things website on Tuesdays.  Check out what our friends are sharing!

To-Do for the week of April 1st (no fooling!) through 7th:

  1. Start quilting Dr Seuss #2 – √ done
  2. Make color block for April – √ done
  3. Find a new hand quilting project for Sue – done √

To-Do #1

I hesitate showing you this Dr Seuss quilt as I am 100% sure you are sick of hearing about them.  I’m not minding the quilting part thankfully.  We actually sold THREE quilts in March, and one was a DS quilt.  So it was time to replenish our offerings.  Quilting was indeed started in a crosshatch pattern using my walking foot.  I love doing the quilting portion especially when I know what my plan is!  Here is a look at the backing with the crosshatch design.

To-Do #2

The April color block calls for blue fabric, as opposed to last month’s navy hue.  Sue had already picked out the shades as soon as we joined in the block-of-the-month sew along, but we changed out minds.  We found a different, better option in our stash, and here it is being trimmed.

To-Do #3

Sue recently finished her latest hand quilting project, and is looking for a new one.  Last week Missouri Star Quilt Company had a charm pack on sale.  I ordered two of them along with two coordinating fabrics for borders.  We’ll make two quilts at the same time with these offerings.  We haven’t started sewing them yet, but they’ll eventually be Irish chain blocks.  That’s a lot of strip sewing in my near future.

April OMG

Our April goal with Patty at Elm Street Quilts is to finish appliquéing our Spring Shower table runner.  One of five umbrella blocks have been appliquéd so far!  That’s 20% done if you don’t count the border and quilting in the equation.

To-Do for the week of April 8th through 14th

  1. Work on the Bee Hive HSTs – 72 pieces needed
  2. Start strip sewing for Sue’s next project
  3. Appliqué another umbrella

Hello Roseanne, You two are always accomplishing so many projects in quilting! Both of you need to make sure and take time to be proud of yourselves, treat yourselves in some way. I know we usually say that is buying fabric and special tools and so forth, which works…but what about a special treat at the Dairy Queen for your favorite ice cream treat or go and have your nails painted! You both know I am cheering you on and everyone else also!!! I have to say that I truly love the backing fabric you chose for the Dr. Suess quilt this time, it is one of those fabrics that just instantly makes you smile! Plus, you did a marvelous job with the Cross Hatch Quilting. I think it is my favorite design, I always have a tough time deciding how far apart to space my stitching. Do you? The blue fabrics you bought for the next quilt is very pretty, I look forward to seeing it! Plus, after seeing Sue’s lovely hand stitching, I am really looking forward to seeing what she is going to do this time! It has been quite some time since I have made an Irish Chain Quilt, the Double has always been one of my favorite patterns. Sue, your appliqued Umbrella blocks are so precious! I have a similar pattern in a magazine and have thought about making it. But need to keep working on all of my Tea Pot Blocks for now. LOL. I have once again enjoyed everything in your post today and am so glad that you shared it with us! Have a fabulous day!

  4. Nope. Not sick of those Dr. Seuss quilts at all. Congrats on finding a best-seller that also satisfies your soul in its creation.
    🙂

  5. You are making great progress. I love the way the runner is looking and hooray for 3 sales. I keep delaying putting up some of my things in a store, but that has to rise to the top of the list soon!

  6. I love how you two stick to a plan! Happy Monday!

  7. It’s so satisfying to see that to-do list checked off! I love those beautiful blues for the hand quilting project. Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
