Color of the Month April Connection
We are playing along with Jen at Patterns by Jen Color of the Month block challenge.
For April, the color is blue like you would see in the flower called Glory of the Snow. It is a pretty blue and it will play so nicely with last month’s navy color.
Our April Block
This month uses a couple more of the hourglass shapes in its design. We continue to use the pretty sand dotted fabric as a background fabric. We’re hoping to continue that throughout all of the blocks. I’m hoping I will get better at making this block as we move through this challenge. It seems like I am always trimming off a bit of one side’s point.
One Third Finished
With the completion of this block, we are one-third finished with all of the blocks. Here is a peek at all four that are complete so far.
The color for May is lime green. I am looking forward to making that block!

Another great block to add to the collection Roseanne!
I love the way your blocks are turning out. Haven’t quite decided on mine, but due to schedules it will be on the later side of the month. Lime green is definitely something to look forward tol
Your blocks are looking lovely, Roseann! Such precise piecing and beautiful soft colors.
I love seeing all these colors come together! As for the points, are you “scanting”? using a scant quarter inch? Are you using a thinner thread? I use Masterpiece thread (I know folds like Aurifil but I prefer the Masterpiece) when I am sewing hst’s. Have you tried cutting the squared a bit bigger and then trimming down? OK, enough badgering for now. I think they look wonderful! And LIME green?? count me in!
Hi Roseanne, all of your blocks look great!
Hello Roseanne, Another great block finished! I was looking on pinterest last night for some ideas and saw several star quilts done with this block and in a similar blue. I always find it so fascinating how quilters manage to do the same thing with the same blocks without even knowing it. I decided yesterday to sew some four patch blocks together, they are mainly a pink floral done with a white with a circular pattern on the fabric. I really do not have a clue at this time what I will make with them, I was just passing time. I hope that the storms do not bring any destruction your way! I know that you and Sue are in my prayers along with many family members who live in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado. So stay safe and warm!
What a fun collection!! It will be a great project.
Love that soft blue! I’ve never heard of those flowers before, will look them up!
