Second Sew Along – The Third Update

Home Sewn By Us

Our second sew along has been hopping and bopping along since July 1st.  This is a no stress, no deadline, no prize sew along, just for fun.  A vote back in early June determined there was no winner but there was a tie!  Sew, all three patterns were the choices for this sew along.

Sew Along With One of These Patterns

Second Sew Along Participants

We were very lucky to have quite a few participants raise their hand to play along!  Here they are along with their pattern choice.  This update isn’t meant to pressure anyone into sewing their project either!!

  • Liz Horgan – undecided but choosing between #1 and #3 (I think she told me #1 but I can’t find that message)
  • Jan on Instagram is going to make #1
  • Wendy from Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life is doing #1
  • Farmquilter Susan/Sassy is also going to make #1
  • Susan from DesertSky Quilting is also planning to make #1

Cherie's Sew Along

  • Connie may be making #1 unless she changes her mind and goes with #3
  • Vasudha at Storied Quilts is also making quilt #3 from some Tula Pink fabrics
  • Shirley cannot make up her mind yet but is joining in

Sew Along Finishes

Please take a few minutes and read the finishing stories – you won’t be sorry.  How did they come up with these names, and how did they quilt these beautiful quilts?!!  Some fabulous tips are shared – I am going to use Sandra’s pre-quilting idea for sure.

  • Barbara is the designer of quilt #2 (how impressive is that?!).  The new owner is Molly, Barbara’s niece.  Also a close of the quilting done by Amy of Herding Cats Quilting.

We Have a Flimsy At Last!

I am enjoying this no-stress, no-hurry QAL.  By that I mean this project has been worked on now and then.  No rush.  Considerable thought has been given on how to quilt this project.  A plan has been formed and a flimsy layered so all that remains is to quilt and bind.  I just LOVE this backing fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop.  OMG!!

One Last Update Planned

A date on the December calendar has been chosen.  One last formal update on this sew along.  That doesn’t mean I won’t share updates as projects are finished in 2019!  I will be happy to report and share them anytime.  I hope you have enjoyed the sew along, both participating and reading about it.  Next options for the new year third sew along haven’t been determined yet, but that could change in a moment.  Suggestions welcome!!

  1. I also love your backing fabric. It looks like you are sewing the #1 Up From Here version. Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt top. Take care, Mary.

So fun to see everyone’s take on each pattern! Color choices change everything, don’t you think? I hope you will consider my Mary’s Go Round quilt for Moda Bake Shop for your next sew along. It really is an easy make and a pattern that will look different with each color choice!

Maybe I can at least get started so there’s something besides my fabric planning. LOL Thanksgiving weekend. That’s my goal, and I wrote it in my calendar. =)

I just adore Tracy’s sunny one too, but all the others look great, isn’t it amazing what a change of fabric colour does to really make someone like me just fall in love with them.

Hello Roseanne, All of these quilts are fantastic! I am sitting here, since my huge quilt is done, deciding what to do today as I read posts and I am so tempted to find fabrics, print out the pattern and just get it all going. Yet, I have so many other projects to do. Decisions, Decisions…LOL. Thank you for sharing and have a fabulous day!

How fun to see all the finishes for the sew along! They look great!

  8. Thank you for making this no-stress, but also thank you for giving a quasi-final date. I seem to need it. So I’ll try to get my quilt going by December, or maybe done. We’ll see!

  9. Thank you for hosting this QAL. I’ve loved seeing all the projects. I’m afraid mine will remain a UFO until next year. Fabric cut and ready and sitting in a shoe box. That yellow and blue triangles quilt is absolutely gorgeous. I hope that motivates me to finish mine.

I loved playing along with this quilt along! I still need to quilt mine, but I love it so much already. It’s good to see everyone’s progress.

  11. Thank you for hosting such a no-stress sew along Roseanne! I made a quick quilt with a new cool pattern and gave it away to a great cause. Oh I LOVE that backing you got too!!!

  12. Good morning Roseanne! Thanks for sharing my finish — I’ve started on the triangle pattern – I will keep you posted 🙂
