Projects Mid-month Check-in This and That

I had another post planned to go live today but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on it yet.  Instead, how about a little mid-month check-in on a little bit of this and that projects?  Nothing that really goes together but it’s all kind of related to a bunch of different (squirrel) unplanned projects in progress.

Projects This #1

Cutting and cutting of those lovely batik fabrics that I won from Quilting Gail ensued one night after work.  You know how it is when you get a project in your head?  Even if the idea was suggested by someone else, the seed is planted and then I ended up watering it at work until it would not be denied.  Enough so that I had to draw out the block in EQ8, test out a few color combinations and print out the small paper-pieced portion of the block (top right corner).  The tutorial is from Sandra at mmm Quilts and her 2017 Freefall QAL (quilt-along).

There may be just enough fabric for a table runner since this block is 7.5″ unfinished.  I paired up 10 combinations of the fabrics with the darker colors planned as the background.  There is some extra fabric of the light mushroom fabric pictured above, so maybe I could add a small border.

Projects That #1

The other off-the-books or not on “The List” project is the hexagon table topper for Sue’s sister.  We have some 60-degree triangles cut out in a pretty gray fabric.  A 7.5″ circle was printed to make the round snowman heads, and a template for a few snowflakes has been found and printed.

Now it’s just a matter of deciding which snowflake size works best.  After that, it’s time to get started on the appliqué of the half-circle snowman heads.

And your snowman … I’m still thinking about doing one … but need to finish up UFOs and current projects first – then I’ll play with the snowman! (unless another squirrel rears it’s head!) 🙂
    Happy Quilting! 🙂

  9. What fun to have 2 little projects sneak in! I had one sneak in and its done, but not until next weeks hop. So much for staying on the straight and narrow for both of us. Love your leaf block and its going to be a super runner.

  10. You have two fun projects going there! I still haven’t come up with an idea for my fabric from Gail. Once I get my sewing mojo back, maybe I’ll think of something. Enjoy your weekend!
