Pumpkin Quilt for Pumpkin Alice

My birthday buddy, sweet baby Alice, is getting a pumpkin-themed quilt for her birthday.  We made her a baby quilt Alice’s Frog and Toad quilt when she was born  Her mom created a Facebook group to make a special quilt for Alice’s first birthday.  It’s going to be a Pumpkin quilt and the premise is “family coming together with the goal to make a festive birthday quilt for Alice.”  Of course, Sue and I are on board to make a few pumpkin blocks for sweet Alice.

Pumpkin Fun!

Lauren, Alice’s mom, selected this Pumpkin pattern by Cluck, Cluck, Sew.  It calls for 25 total blocks made from 5 different pumpkin styles.  Alice is fortunate to have several extended family members that quilt and TWO grandmothers that quilt.  How lucky is that sweet girl?!!

Lauren and Grandma Rosalie put their heads together last month and opted for a white fabric background rather than the gray color pictured.  Rosalie is going to be putting the quilt together, and we are lucky that she lives near us.  I know we’ll be raising our hand if help is needed!

Alice helped select the initial fabrics for a few of the blocks.  She was definitely along while the fat quarter cuts were carefully selected, and you can easily see which one was her favorite.

Sue pulled a range of orange-colored fabrics from our stash, and it turns out we had quite a few to pick from!

We can easily make a few more blocks if they are needed.  The blocks go together quickly, and here is an example of one pre-pressing.

Wouldn’t it figure that the ironing board cover is orange?!!  I’ll share more details, like our two finished blocks as well as the quilt in progress later.  We’ll all look forward to seeing baby Alice with the finished results in October.  It’s going to be such a nice scrappy-looking quilt – I can’t wait to see it!!

  4. What an absolutely perfect idea, to make a group quilt for Alice’s birthday! That quilt is going to have so much good karma in it, she’ll have to feel loved whenever she cuddles up in it. The oranges are fabulous. Clearly, Alice agrees.

  5. Oh those bright fabrics and those utterly butterly chubby arms – I am oohing and aahing 🙂 Cannot go wrong with this combination for a blogpost and I believe those fabrics and a pumpkin pattern is a winning combination too!!!

Hello Roseanne, What a fun quilt to be involved in making! I like the fabrics that you and Alice selected to use for your Pumpkin! The swirly pattern that Alice chose as her favorite is my favorite choice also! LOL. I hope that you have a great time creating these pumpkins and any other Fall or Halloween projects that this one puts you in the mood to create. It made me start looking through your links right away. Have a fantastic day!
