Weekly To-Do #39 – Staying Warm

This is our 39th edition of our weekly to-do list.  I share on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Monday, and Tuesday’s linky party can be found on Christine’s Stitch All the Things website. ~smile~

To-Do Tuesday for the week January 1st through 7th:

  1. Complete the Dr. Seuss quilt top – √ done
  2. Determine Regatta Quilt color layout – √ done
  3. Quilt the January snowman table runner – √ done

#1

The Dr. Seuss quilt top is all together!  It has been layered and quilting has started.  I am doing a diagonal straight-line stitching in both directions so it will have a nice cross hatch design.  It sure would be nice to have this completed before the end of next week so I can ship it off to its new home in Texas.

We have laid out the colors and fabrics we are using for the Regatta Quilt.  Since the sew along started on January 1st, we had to determine that so we could share of the launch post.  I haven’t started sewing it yet, mostly because I have been concentrating on Dr. Seuss. ~smile~

The January snowman table runner is complete and is gracing our island as I type!  It turns out that Andrea really like this runner (who knew?!!) so I imagine we will be making another one in the near future.  She doesn’t have an island right now, but it could easily grace her table and hang over the edge.  Don’t you think?  So that might be a cutter or buttinsky and get in front of some of those UFOs I’d like to clear out.

January OMG Goal:

Our January OMG goal is to completely finish the Dr Seuss commission quilt this month

Extra:

Just a little extra sewing on a couple of microwave cozies that were hanging out on my sewing table – a Batman and bicycle-inspired one.  Nothing real exciting but they are off Sue’s list now. I like that! ~smile~

To-Do January 8th through 14th:

  1. Finish quilting Dr Seuss and get it in the mail
  2. Start sewing strips for Regatta Quilt
  3. Do SOMETHING with the Grandma’s Kitchen blocks – it is on the UFO list

I wish you a week filled with many blessings!

  1. I love how you plan your weekly sewing projects. I’ve been trying to do that these past few weeks, and it really helps keep me focused. I’m sure you’ll finish the Dr Suess quilt soon and it will make someone very happy!

      Hi Beth,
I found the idea from Christine and have been doing it every week since. I can happily say that I have been successful on all items every week except one. For me, if I think I can get something done in seven day then I can and I do it. Dr Seuss went in the mail Monday night so I have my OMG finished already!! Amazing. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Love the colors for your quilt!

      Hi Suzanne,
Thank you so much! I appreciate that you visited and commented – I hope you visit us again. ~smile~ Roseanne

That is a cool way to take a picture of you fabrics. I bet it is easy to move them around to try a different order too!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Shannon,
Well, in theory it keeps them in order. Of course, I mixed up the first three dark blue colors and had to reorganize before I sew those first seams. Fortunately, Sue had them all numbered for me!! I had #3 before #2. I fear the same thing will happen with postcard . . . when I get that far. HAHA ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. Roseanne, You are making awesome progress on the Dr. Seuss quilt. How fun it will be to see the reveal! Way to go for choosing the fabrics for your Regatta quilt. I think your selection will make a really pretty quilt. I have mine all selected and ready for cutting. This should be a fun joint project. Woohoo for finishing the snowman table runner. How nice to have something so pretty to display on a counter or table. You certainly have a lot of progress to show for your efforts. Have a great week! 🙂

      Hi Cindy,
It seems like I should have been much more productive – I didn’t really spend very much time in the sewing room. Oh well! On to a new week. Happy Day! ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. You’ve had a good week! I finally decided on fabric for Regatta, ended up ordering some but I think I’m going to like it. Can’t wait for it to arrive! I love your snowman runner, sitting nicely on your table. 🙂

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Wendy!
It seems like I should have had a better week with some days off, but oh well. I’m happy the runner is done, and now I can spend some time thinking about Regatta. I’m posting an update tomorrow so you can see some of the other’s choices. ~smile~ Roseanne
