Monday Musings & To-Do Tuesday #9

Two of our friends host a weekly linky party. Brenda at Songbird Designs has a Monday linky party called Monday Musings. Also, new to the hosting of linky parties, Carol at Quilt Schmidt has taken over To-Do Tuesday. We will share our weekly updates on both of their websites.

To-Do for last week:

  1. Work on a car quilt for each of the littles
  2. Get into a work frame of mind.
  3. Two limit list for a stress-free week

To-Do #1

On impulse, we decided that each of the littles needed a car quilt. It started with a fabric sale . . . and snowballed from there. Soon, we had eight different layer cakes (10″ fabric packs) on the way along with some special fleece backings. Those darn backings arrived slowly; the first one on December 23. Here are the end results showing three of the five car quilts that we finished. Five, you ask? Yes, five because Gamma decided she needed one, too. Pictures were inadvertently missed for two of the quilts but I’m hopeful we might have an update soon.

First, we have a Thomas the Train quilt for Chase. Next, is a Barbie car quilt for Addison, complete with Colt’s yellow Batman-clad feet. Finally, a Hot Wheels quilt for Dominic. Addison had all three car quilts piled on top of her for the drive home. It was in the 40s so I’m guessing she might have been a bit warm once she got home! I will share a post with all the details later this week.

To-Do #2

Get in a work frame of mind. We tried to gather one last time before we had to head back to work, but alas we still had people sick. It was Auntie (Ni)Cole and (almost) Addison’s birthdays. We found a fun Happy Birthday banner, although we really need to quilt one, don’t you think?!!

A Princess danish-layer cake was ordered for Addison’s Golden birthday, which is on the 4th. GG was very happy to be a part of the festivities with a sandwich and some cake. Addison had to practice using her newly acquired “magic” wand with Belle in her other hand. Finally, Addison got in her car seat with her tiara and Belle handy. Shortly thereafter, she had all the quilts piled on top of her. Whatever the Princess wants.

To-Do Stay-At-Home Round Robin

The Stay-At-Home Round Robin 2023 is in just a few short weeks. On Monday, January 16, the festivities begin. Six blogger friends will share the center blocks that we will build our quilts upon. Every Monday thereafter a different compadre will share their suggestion for the round along with tips and tricks. March 13th will be the final parade. There’ll be a weekly linky party AND some giveaways. It’s nine quick weeks of round-robin fun. This year, our project is unique for us as it involves pastels. ~smile~ We hope you consider joining us. Quilting Gail shared a post with more details about our lovely sponsors.

To-Do for the week of January 2nd:

The first week of the New Year! Happy 2023 to you!

  1. Start on the “last” t-shirt quilt
  2. Bind the THREE finished quilts!
  3. Low-stress limit!
