October Day Pack Bag OMG Project

It’s time for our October OMG or one monthly goal project to be selected.  We are very happy to join Patty at Elm Street Quilts, who hosts a linkup party each month.  This particular project is also a squirrel – it was NOT on the radar and it MUST be made.  Several friends made similar bags and they went unnoticed.  That is until Kathleen made a dinosaur-inspired version (that I’ll have to make for Dominic one day).  During the middle of the night, the squirrel chattered in my ear that this would be a perfect gift for my boss.

Amazing enough, you can purchase a day bag for under $1.  It wouldn’t have all the special features I plan to add.  Also, it wouldn’t be made with special fabric and sewed with love!  Yeah, why am I making this again??!!

October OMG Day Pack Project

My boss, Catherine, is a bicycling enthusiast.  Recently, she has been biking between buildings/schools to enjoy the nice Fall weather.  Of course, it’s also good exercise and eco-friendly.  As she prepares to leave, she takes her phone and occasionally some paperwork with her.  One of these day packs would come in very handy for her, so here we go.

Once the squirrel nibbled, I knew this was to be made.  The fabric and other needed supplies were acquired so we are ready-to-go.  Parachute cording for sturdiness and grommets so the cord doesn’t tear the fabric.  I think I’m going to add a pocket or two to the lining to tuck that phone into, and even her badge for access to the buildings.

October Day Pack OMG

To summarize, our October OMG is to make a day pack/backpack for my boss, Catherine.  It has to be finished by the 18th since her birthday is on the 20th.
