Two Worthy Block Drives Needing Help

This was mentioned in the Tuesday post as one of our To-Do items.  I have found two ongoing block drives that may be worth your time.  Both block drives are requesting very simple blocks and ones that could easily be made from stash fabrics.

Quilts of Valor Block Drive

First up is the request for QOV blocks!  Did you know there is an ongoing “Quilts of Valor® 2020 Block Drive” request going on?  I saw it first on Carole’s from From My Carolina Home website and then I checked out the link she shared.  Here’s the link directly from the QOV.org website for the National Block Drive instructions.  Handily enough, the deadline for the block is December 1st of 2020.  Plenty of time if you would like to join in yourself, and there is a link for each state if you want local info.

Simple 9-patch Block Drive

Their goal is 20,000 blocks for 2020, and we are going to help them achieve this goal.  I reached out to our Wisconsin state coordinator and received a quick response back.  We can send our blocks to the nationwide distribution center in Texas or directly to her in Platteville, WI.  If to her, she will send them to where they are needed within the state.  Also, she asked for the blog post link to share on Facebook and said that our names would be included on a label.  ***A fun fact:  our friend, Mary, from Mary Quilts is mentioned on the bottom of the instructions sheet!  How cool is that?!***

Covered in Love Fall Block Drive

Kat at Kat and Cat Quilts shared information about a block drive for Covered in Love for September and October 2019.  Kat shares a tutorial on her website for the split-9-patch block they are collecting.

CiL fabrics

Sue pulled a variety of fabrics for me to sew together into the split-9-patch.  This is going to be on my mental to-do list this week since Sue is deserting me for a conference.  I plan on sewing a few HSTs, trimming them to size, and then making a few of these blocks.

Just a little exposure for both block drives looking to cover people with quilts made with plenty of love and good wishes.  Armed with knowledge, you can help If you’re interested in doing so.

  4. Always good to get the word out and with all our scraps not hard to put together a few blocks.

Thanks for sharing about these worthy causes! Block drives are an easy way to help out! 🙂

  6. Thanks for sharing the info about the block drives they both are very worthy!

  7. These are indeed worthy block drives. I’m feeling drawn to make a couple blocks for the Covered in Love Fall Block Drive. My biggest challenge will be finding enough white/light fabrics. You know me, I like my bright colors, especially solids! But I definitely have enough red/yellow/blue/green prints on hand to make choosing the brighter fabrics a fairly easy task. Thanks for sharing about these important block drives. Take care, Mary.
