Joining 2020 Monthly Color Challenge

We have just wrapped up the first year in joining Jen at Patterns by Jen and her Monthly Color Challenge.  Tomorrow I will share our version of the quilt top featuring all of the 2019 blocks for the Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday (TGIFF) linky party.  Happily enough, we will be joining Jen for her third year and the 2020 Monthly Color Challenge!

2020 Monthly Color Fabrics

2020 Monthly Colors

For 2020, Jen is taking her color inspiration from the birds (2019’s inspiration was from flowers).  You can easily imagine the sweet little yellow finch from the yellow fabric pictured above.  We picked one fabric line to use in all the blocks and a Kona solid black for all the background fabrics.  Crayola Kaleidoscope is the gorgeous fabric pictured above from the Fat Quarter Shop.  We tried to pick out the fabric colors that we thought would represent each month the best.

2020 Monthly Color Bloggers

For year three, Jen has rounded up over 30 bloggers to play along with all the color goodness.  If you’d like to get a sneak peek at the bloggers joining in, check out Jen’s meet and greet post.  Not only that, but there will be quarterly sponsors – over 15 different ones.  More details about all the various sponsors will be released on Friday’s post by Jen.  The first of our two months will be in March where we will share the block and fabric color.  Sue already has the fabric labeled so that we can quickly access the pieces as each block in released.

2020 Monthly Color Fun

Promptly on January 1st, Jen will release the first block for the new year’s challenge.  Would you like to join in on the fun?  You don’t need to do too much – follow Jen’s link to sign up for an email directly to you.  Download the free pattern and then return to link up your block at the end of the month.  Plus you’ll have a chance to win something from one of the sponsor’s.  Use fabrics from your stash or use fat quarters – longest piece you will need is 19″ and the largest piece is a 7.5″ square.  Stay tuned for our post in the new year.

Each Tuesday we host a linky party called To-Do Tuesday.  Join us to link up your current project and/or to-do-list. Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

Well as if I don’t have enough to tangle myself up in, I am joining…I think…need to find the fabrics and figure out what “link up” means, and see if I can understand the 3 pages of cutting directions…Who can say if my pea brain can follow along? It’s because I so enjoyed your 2019 color challenge blocks…yes friend, I am totally blaming you! Maybe you could rent Sue out to me for a bit to get all of MY fabric picked, labeled, and bagged up? Pretty please??

Beautiful fabrics and colors for next year’s challenge. Sounds like a fun one, but after this year, I think I’m going on a new project diet. I really need to work down the current list.

Hello Roseanne, I am going to sit this one out and watch from the sidelines. I really enjoyed seeing the blocks that you and Sue created throughout the year and am looking forward to seeing the whole quilt! I already have a number of UFO’s left to complete and a few Quilt Alongs and Mysteries that I will be doing. How funny, I am thinking to myself, with out even any planning and my year is all planned out. I look forward to the remainder of this year following your blog and following it throughout the new year! Have a fantastic day!

    Lovely fabrics!
I will be joining in the monthly colour challenge by watching you and a few other blogs! I already have too much on my plate for 2020! But, I am quite content to watch and drool! And, I know that in June, I’ll be wishing I had joined in … 🙂
    Happy Quilting! 🙂

  7. I should really get a wiggle on and finish my 2019 quilt top, right?? Yikes. I will probably work from my stash for 2020, but I really need to get in the game here! Your fabrics are very pretty; I like that subtle pattern!

  8. Denise says:

The fabrics you chose are really pleasing to the eye, I love the pattern. Can’t wait to see your 2019 finish.

  9. Those are gorgeous! I am definitely thinking about whether to be on the hunt for fabric OR use what I have (what the heck is that about). I also am doing a temperature quilt, so I could just go nuts…I am thinking about the backg I did my last block and will blog about it early next week. Looking forward to the 2020 blocks!
