Cinnamon September Monthly Color Block

The Cinnamon Teal duck is the inspiration for this month’s monthly color block from Jen at Pattern’s By Jen.  Released on the first of September, there is still time to get the pattern Jen shared.  This is an easy block to make and quite frankly, I think we all needed an easy peasy non-stressful block to include in the quilt-along.  Cinnamon is not a color that we have a plethora of in our stash.  Thankfully, there was a shade that would work in the Crayola Kaleidoscope by Riley Blake collection we’re using for these monthly blocks.

Cinnamon Fabric for September

I’ve already mentioned that this is an easy peasy block using some flying geese and fabric squares.  Sue cut the fabric for me and I started sewing the flying geese following Jen’s pattern for making a four at one a time.

This picture really shows the tone-on-tone orange peel design on the fabric!

Once the flying geese were all finished it was time to layout the design.  Oops!  That may be a nice design choice but it is definitely not the layout that Jen is going for this month.  Thankfully, for once, I double-checked the pattern before proceeding to sew.  Phew!

It’s a Cinnamon Finish for the Win

A quick little change to the layout and sewing was completed in a flash.

Finally, here are our blocks 1-9.  There are only three more blocks to complete for the 2020 monthly block sew-along.  October is our second month to be featured so we’ll be working on that this month so it’s ready to go on the first.

Hello Roseanne, Such a lovely combination of colors/fabrics that went together wonderfully for this nifty(meaning I like it) block. I remember considering doing this BOM and think I even started it, then reconsidered and decided to work on UFO’s this year. I have not made a big dent, but at least I have made a dent. LOL. Your quilt is going to be spectacular when it is totally complete! Thank you for continuing to share your progress and inspiring me to continue working on UFO’s by just seeing all of the fabulous quilts you are always completing! Have a spectacular day!!

MMMMM! I love cinnamon and the cooler weather makes me think of baking. Sometimes when I walk, I hear the geese honking as they fly overhead (on to the next golf course). I love the colors you chose and I love the way your quilt is looking. Only three more blocks for 2020! I’d say where did time go but really, we’ve all had enough of 2020.

  7. Again lovely block and how I love seeing them together each month!
