Happy Valentine’s Day Snowman Scare

Sharing a finish today was my hope but it was not to be.  I am so very, very close to finishing the second snowman topper it’s not funny.  Missing noses was the concern as I was all set to start quilting.  What??  How could I possibly have forgotten to add the carrot nose to each snowman?  Buttonholing MUST be done on those appendages prior to any quilting design.  EEK!

On the left, all layered with the machine ready to go . . . and on the right with carrots in place and re-layered.  Phew.  We would have caught it when the eyes were added but that was close.  HAHA!  That is a mild scare, I know, but I’m glad we avoided it.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you!  I have to admit I’m a bit worried about my sister, Carol, today.  It’s my BIL birthday and this is the first time they are not together in 65 years.  I cannot make it all better, or make her heart not hurt from missing him.  But I can call her and tell her I love her and that I miss him, too.  Love lasts forever!  Happy Birthday, Tom.

Valentine Oh, You Scare Me Fun

Valentine

We are babysitting tonight!  Our two littles will be filling our hearts with loads of love.  Dominic’s favorite game is to ‘hide’ in plain sight.  Basically, you step out of view and wait for him to come to find you.  As soon as you see him, you say, “Oh, you scare me” and clutch your heart.  Addison clutches her heart just in sympathy or maybe empathy or maybe because that’s what you’re supposed to do.  We will be having a blast, but what about you?  What are your plans?

  2. Sounds like you had fun plans for Friday. I hope to do some sewing today if I can warm up. The wind is still wickedly cold. I’m still drinking hot coffee under a wool blanket.

I’m reading your blog, that’s my Valentine’s Day gift to me. LOL So glad you noticed the noses were missing. It prevents sneezing, though. =)

I made our Valentine’s dinner last night, flank steak and fried rice, since Hubster has gone south to spring his mom from the rehab center. She is regaining feeling in her foot and the hip is healing. Thanks for thinking of her. Prayers to Carol!! So I will spend VDay with the dogs, but I did get to visit with Diva and Car Guy when they dropped off a basket of goodies for me and Hubster for VDay. And the sweetest card! It about made me cry!!

  7. Good catch on those missing noses! Reminds me of a game that I used to play with my Grandpa, “Got Your Nose”. Happy Valentines Day!

Hello Roseanne, I have definitely made applique mistakes before, during and after the quilting…LOL! Maybe you could have just tied them on and made it look as though they were the first to go in the melting process. Ha-Ha-Ha Have a spectacular night with the little ones. I am already looking forward to seeing pictures! All of the Valentine/Heart projects you shared are wonderful and great inspirations, even though I am already three years behind. ROTFL Roseanne, I wish you, Sue and the little ones a magnificent Valentines Day filled with Love and Laughter that will Last until next year!

What would be a snowman without a carrot?! It’s a relatable situation to so many of us…you are not alone! It sounds like a perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day with the little ones.

On those snowmen I add the nose later, works for me. Depends on the look you want though. Happy Valentine’s day to you gals too. A ride is what I’ll be doing today 😉

  13. Oh but those snowmen are getting there! What fun that one will be!! have fun with the littles!!

SEW glad you caught the noses in time!!! When I did one of mine, It was mostly quilted before I saw that the snowmen were nose-less. I ended up just doing the noses as part of the quilting. It worked. But not how I wanted it to work! 🙂
    Enjoy the littles tonight!

I’ve had that happen to me and it’s no fun, especially when it’s noticed after the quilting is done. I’m glad you saved the day for that snowman! Lots of pretty Valentine projects you’ve shared. Happy Valentines Day!
