To-Do #52+41 Weekly Recap Update

This is our 93rd edition of our weekly to-do list and it’s a New Year.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Mondays, and Christine’s Stitch All the Things website on Tuesdays.

To-Do for the week of January 14th through 20th:

  1. Sew the rows together for Spring Wave – √ done
  2. Make the Monthly Color Challenge block for January – waiting for new fabric
  3. Gather the Harley Davidson t-shirts – too much snow to pick them up!
  4. Make a game plan for the three additional Dr Seuss quilts – √ done

To-Do #1

This should have been a quickie quilt top to put together.  Should have been because we used to make this pattern all the time.  However, we had several wonderful interruptions that happily took precedence over sewing.  The first, of course, was baby Addison’s arrival.  Any and all things for our peeps!  Needless to say, these rows did indeed get sewn together.  A good pressing is needed!  There’s only nine rows so it wouldn’t take long, and 15 minutes spent after work goes a long way on these kind of simple tasks.

Spring Wave 2

To-Do #2

We are joining in with the Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Jen at Patterns By Jen.  The color for January is green, and Jen suggested a dark and light to make the Churn Dash version shine.  After much debate, we elected to use a low volume as the background.  We are hoping to continue that theme throughout the additional monthly blocks, but that remains to be seen.  I ordered some Swiss Dot sand on white fabric, thinking that would cover both white and beige needs.  This means the fabric embargo has been lifted – it was Sue’s idea to order this fabric.  Hopefully it comes quickly from MSQC.  My fingers are crossed.

Speaking of distractions, here are distractions #1 and #2.  Number one is laying on Rosalie’s burp cloth.  And can’t you see her eyes smiling at Auntie Rose for the picture?!  Distraction #2 is watching Elmo but has his blocks, puzzle pieces and (old) phone right at his finger tips.  Lots of love right dare for those two distractions.

To-Do #3

Last year we finished a t-shirt quilt for our good friend, Pat.  Her quilt is the vehicle to allow all of her dive t-shirts to shine.  Happily, a friend of Pat’s saw her quilt and wondered if we might make her one as well.  This will be a quilt for Deena’s husband who is a huge Harley Davidson fan.  HD is headquartered here in Wisconsin, and we have both grown up with a HD presence.  I recall riding behind my friend’s sister on a HD when I was about 10 or so.  Once you hear and feel the rumble of one, you never forget it.  We couldn’t meet to pick them up this weekend due to a snow storm.  Soon hopefully!

Winter decided to arrive to mess up our t-shirt pickup plans.  Ten inches in this photo and it was still snowing . . .  Another date will be set soon!

To-Do #4

Last month, we literally dropped everything and made a Dr Seuss quilt over a weekend.  Our friend, Sandra, hosts a DrEAMi link up on the last Saturday of the month, and this quilt qualified.  Since it sold so very quickly in our Etsy shop, we decided we would make another one three.  Go big or go home, right?!  The 80 separate panel pieces needed to be separated into three different quilt piles for our game plan.  They finally arrived on Wednesday – I think I almost could have walked to get it quicker.  Now to work!!  Sue divided them into three separate quilt piles.

Dr Seuss AGAIN

Extra!

Tummy Tags is a squirrel project that was also started this weekend.  Wendy at Pieceful Thoughts sent along these sweet mini-charms earlier this month.  Just as soon as I saw them I knew they were for Addison and a tummy time quilt with tags.  Doing math at 2am firmed up all the details, and a plan fell into place.  Once Sue understood the plan since she wasn’t awake at 2am to share them with (!!), boom.  The squirrel was started.  It should be all complete for Sandra’s linky party on Saturday at mmm! quilts.

January OMG

Our January goal with Patty at Elm Street Quilts is to get Spring Wave made into a quilt top and layered for hand quilting by Sue.  This is absolutely on target to be finished in time!

To-Do for the week of January 21st through 27th

  1. Add the borders to Spring Wave and layer it – complete OMG!
  2. Finish Tummy Tags
  3. Make the Wings blog hop project
  4. Pick up the Harley Davidson t-shirts maybe??

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

Wow, you both got so much done! Spring Wave is fantastic. And I actually laughed out loud at the “squirrel project” phrase. That is too funny!

You were very busy last week! Looks like another good week this week, too. Love those pictures. The truth is, whether someone creepy follows or not, there are people out there you wouldn’t want knowing anything. You are very careful about not being specific about your location, so I think it’s doubtful someone could actually find you or the children. If IG can allow you to block people (and they DO), I don’t see why blog platforms of all kinds can’t.

Loving your distractions! I would be so sad if you had to stop posting about them because of some creep. But it is best to be safe. Just tired of creepy mean people. As for all the other things you have going in – holy moly! Do you ever take a break? I guess having project list keeps looking forward though, hey?

I feel you about Bloglovin. I asked the same question a while ago and they said that you couldn’t but they were working on it. That’s crazy! There should be a way to get rid of the unwanted ones.

You are making progress on so many fronts, go you guys! Hope you find a solution to creepy guy!

All the best you have a lot going on. Love Distraction #1 and #2 photos! That’s some snow, everyone in winter is talking snow these days! Ouch to the creepy follower. I know lots of people are careful about posting children photos.

Hello Roseanne, I am thrilled that Farmquilter provided a link for you to read and find out information on blocking bad people. This world, sadly, does contain some very savage and unhealthy people who do look in good places to benefit themselves. I look forward to seeing all of the projects the two of you seem to be working on! LOL. Have a spectacular day in the snow!

    • Roseanne says:

Thank you!! At least there is an answer, whether I like it or not. Maybe if enough people ask for the option, it may be considered. ~smile~ Roseanne

  8. Hi Roseanne, I hadn’t seen your first t-shirt quilt before. I really like how that turned out. I would like to make one someday. You continue to be one busy woman! Take care, Mary.

  9. Can’t wait to see the tummy tags project. I don’t have an answer for you on the Bloglovin question, but I’m interested. I get weird followers too, and have wondered if you can block them.

I adore the colors and the placement of To Do #1! Who taught baby Addison how to smize?

  11. Connie says:

So now you got me, I am invested in seeing the development of this Spring Wave…but thank you for the “fix” of cuteness! Extra boost to start the week…
