Weekly To-Do #42 End of January

Happy Birthday Carol and Janice!  We hope you each have a fabulous birthday!  This is our 42nd edition of our weekly to-do list and the last one for January.  I share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Monday, and Tuesday’s linky party can be found on Christine’s Stitch All the Things website. ~smile~

To-Do Tuesday for the week January 22nd through 28th:

  1. Sew a couple of Regatta Quilt strips – √ done
  2. Start on the Fluffer project – √ done
  3. Start quilting the Grandma’s Kitchen table runner – √ done

To-Do #1

I did indeed sew a few more strips together for the Regatta Quilt.  I’m a few ahead as well, since I sewed rows 4, 7, and 8.  Thankfully I noticed BEFORE I incorrectly skipped over rows 5 and 6.  Sue asked ME how they got out of order!  Like I went over to her area and messed them up . . . humph.  I believe we have sections A and B together now.  Twelve rows at any rate, or six of the nineteen solid colored strips.

To-Do #2

Our friends Cindy at In a Stitch Quilting and Tracy at It’s A T-Sweets Day are hosting a Mystery Quilt Along.  There is really only one requirement for this QAL, and that is to use Fluffer Nutter fabric by Moda.  We have cut a few strips to start our Fluffer & Picnic project.

I guess from this photo you really have no idea what we’re going to do with these strips.  Maybe we don’t either!  HAHA!  I sure do like these two colors together though.  Very nice . . .

To-Do #3

The table runner was constructed last week, and my task for this week was quilting.  I was able to get it all quilted using a variety of techniques.  Straight-line stitching and ruler work were combined on this runner.  It ended up a good size, and I will share all the details in a post later this week.  I’ll also share what I learned on my first major attempt with rulers.  I will definitely use them again – there is a learning curve but not such a steep one that it is daunting.

January OMG Goal:

Our January OMG goal is to completely finish the Dr Seuss commission quilt this month.  This is already finished – can you even believe it?!  I posted our message about meeting this challenge on Elm Street Quilts January Finish the first day we could.  Hmm, now what should we do for February?!

To-Do January 29th through February 4th:

  1. Sew another couple of strips for the Regatta
  2. Finish the Love Quilt a.k.a. Nobody’s Perfect coined by Sue
  3. Determine our February OMG
  4. Watch the Super Bowl – well, halftime at least

I wish you a week filled with many blessings and good sewing/quilting vibes!

Our Regatta quilts are still looking similar but mine is getting lighter a bit quicker Ü I’m enjoying this QAL and finding others following along!

      Hi Dawn,
I’m so glad you’re enjoying this! I am, too. I love seeing all the different variations. ~smile~ Roseanne

So much accomplished! I really love the colors in the Regatta quilt. They look so crisp against the white! I am curious about the Mystery Quilt along… Can’t wait to see what those strip-sets become! Yay for getting the table runner all quilted!

      Hi Christine,
I hope you won’t be disappointed in the mystery QAL – it isn’t all that earth shattering. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Busy, Busy. Your quilting looks awesome! I also like your Fluffer Nutter start…. Can’t wait to see what you do with the strips!

    • Roseanne says:

Aww, Lori – you are too sweet. I just love the Fluffer fabric. Of course it goes well with the darker Picnic – they are fun to work with. ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. Roseanne, love the quilting! It turned out really nice. So happy to see your progress on the Regatta project and your Mystery QAL Project. You have been very productive. ♥️💃

  5. I have my Regatta strips sewn. Now I just need to lay them out and stitch up the strip sets. I haven’t had time to quilt much this weekend, so that was a bit disappointing. I don’t know who messed up your strips, but I’m pretty sure my cat Max will help with mine if I leave them lying around all in order. Haha!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Wendy,
If only I had Max to help me out! It was pure luck that I discovered they were in the wrong order when ironing. Otherwise we would have some creative license going on as far as color gradation. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Gretchen says:

Your curves look so smoothly stitched, maybe I’ll have to try rulers sometime. I’m planning on quilting my Regatta sometime in February but I want to make a crib quilt with the leftover fabric first so they can be quilted at the same time. Why? I don’t know but it seems like the right thing to do. They just want to be quilted together. Happy stitching!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Gretchen,
Well, that is a very sweet comment about the curves. The stitch length is fairly irregular though on the ruler work – don’t look too closely! I can understand why they want to be quilted together! They want to stick together as long as they can. ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. Vicki in MN says:

You are coming along nicely with the regatta-if I am not careful you’ll finish before me, LOL I still need to make my backing and quilt it.

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Vicki,
I don’t think you have to worry about me passing you! I haven’t really felt my sewing mojo lately – I sew a little and then take a long break. ~smile~ Roseanne
