To-Do Weekly #46 Update – March OMG

This is our 46th edition of our weekly to-do list.  I share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Monday, and Tuesday’s linky party can be found on Christine’s Stitch All the Things website. ~smile~

To-Do Tuesday for the week February 19th through 25th:

  1. Begin quilting ABC wall hanging – √ done
  2. Sort/organize the Postcard fabrics – √ done

I seemed to have been a bit easy on us last week!  I am happy with what we accomplished this week though. ~smile~

To-Do #1

Sue has taken over the hand quilting of the ABC wall hanging.  I challenged her to have it completed by the end of February, which wasn’t much time.  I’m not so much anxious to get it listed on Etsy but rather to just put a period at the end of these wall hangings.  Since I discovered it has been “hanging” around all the way back to April 2017, it needs to just be complete.  It is coming along – she is using a pretty, orange thread.

To-Do #2

The Postcard from Sweden quilt calls for 36 different fabrics.  One of the colors only call for one triangle.  I would imagine no one would notice if that color was omitted!  We are enlarging the pattern for my queen size bed by using 6″ finished squares.  That means we start with 7″ blocks, and cut them in half diagonally.  Here is the first two squares that we put together just to see how they would look.  They are part of row one.

Since it is a QAL, I am sure it is not too late if you’d like to join in.  Sandra at MMM Quilts is hosting the QAL, which started on February 14th.  Step one is to gather your fabrics and cut the HSTs.  Step two which starts on the 28th is to begin sewing all of those HSTs.  I guess we are slightly ahead in step two although we just finished cutting all the triangles this past weekend.  Don’t these triangles look SO pretty?!

EXTRA:

Thanks to Cindy at In A Stitch Quilting, I found inspiration on how to quilt our Fluffer Nutter table runner.  Here’s a picture of the back of the runner – we can’t show you the front yet until the binding is complete.  It is a mystery QAL after all, run by Cindy and Tracy at Its A T-Sweets Day.  The deadline for having our project complete is March 31st.  We are pretty darn confident that we will meet the deadline!

March OMG Goal:

Our Elm Street Quilts March OMG goal is to square up, layer, quilt and bind the Regatta quilt.

To-Do February 26th through March 4th:

  1. Continue appliquéing the jigsaw quilt pieces
  2. Start to sew the HSTs for Postcard
  3. Finish quilting the ABC wall hanging

We wish you a week filled with many blessings and good sewing/quilting vibes!

I know well that feeling of wanting to be done with a project that has hung around a little too long! Loving the stitching around those letters! I think I’d just fudge the one color for the triangle too! Love that quilting on the table runner too, can’t wait to see the front!

      Hi Christine,
I’m posting about the finish on the mystery QAL table runner on Friday. Yeah, I’m a rule follower so I did get that color that calls for only one square . . . but I thought about it! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Ooh, they sure DO look pretty! Good idea to do 7″ squares to enlarge it. Someone on IG is doing the quilt as is but 1.5 times to make it king size and it’s looking terrific too. Others are doing a mini! How much fun. Thanks for linking up!

    • Roseanne says:

Hi Sandra! I am thrilled with how it is coming together. I’m glad I only need a queen size instead of a king! ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Patty says:

Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck on your project.

  4. Lisa says:

I’m loving your postcard photos. It probably is fine to miss that one triangle colour. I purchased a kit so I’ve got a whole fat quarter of it….but no worries I’m sure I’ll use it for something else.

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Lisa,
Oh definitely you will find another use for it! I had to get all 36 colors – I’m a rule follower so I can’t just ignore that one color. I look forward to seeing how yours turns out! I worked a bit on it today – oh so many HSTs to go though! ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. Bonnie in Va says:

Those colorful triangles are beautiful. Do you think the quilt is just triangles? (PS I’m not starting anything new for at least a week or two. MUST finish a UFO before I start anything!)

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Bonnie,
Yes, the whole entire quilt is just half-square triangles! Aren’t all those fabrics just fabulous?!! Not that I’m trying to pull you into its beauty, but I’m just calling it like it is. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Roseanne, Yippie! You finally get to make your postcard quilt! This will be a fun one to watch. The table runner looks awesome. Love the quilting! It’s so fun to see it from the back. 😊

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Cindy,
That’s exactly how I feel about the Postcard quilt – yippee skippy! And you know you are the inspiration for the quilting – I give you the credit in my post about this table runner. I appreciate you and am so happy you shared your quilting! ~smile~ Roseanne

      • Roseanne, the postcard quilt timing seems so appropriate for Spring! All those bright and colorful colors just make me smile. I noticed that. Thank you very kindly for the mention. You acknowledgement makes my heart sing. I’m glad something I did gave you inspiration. ♥️😁

  7. Your Postcards quilt is coming on great, wish I had my cutting finished. Lovely colours.

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Kate,
It is quite a bit of cutting, but once that’s behind you I think it will go together quickly. I am hoping to do a little sewing tonight on it. ~smile~ Roseanne

  8. I wish I had time to join in the QAL for PFS; I love that colorful quilt! You are ahead of schedule, keep up the good work!

      Hi Vicki!
Yes, you betcha. I have to meet them all so I can put those checkmarks next to them next week. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

  10. That is a lot of triangles! Pretty colors.

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Carole,
Thank you so much – it does look so darn pretty. We had to order some more fabric so there are still more to cut. ~smile~ Roseanne
