To-Do Tuesday #261 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 261st weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Linda hosts the To-Do Tuesday linky party and we thank you so much, Linda!

To-Do for the week of June 14th through 20th:

  1. Maybe actually start quilting the apple quilt for Violet – √ Done
  2. Start cutting Positivity pieces√ Done – technically we are debating a different block
  3. Press the Two and Four QAL blocks√ No way but I’m checking it off anyway
  4. NO more – stress-free motto adherence!

It is officially the start of summer TODAY even though the heat and humidity have been ON for a while now. Just in the knick of time, too, as our summer colds are behind us as a distant memory. Thank you all for your good wishes!

To-Do #1

Just last weekend, we got the Apple quilt for Violet to the layered stage. It even made it to my completely cleared-off sewing table. Has it budged from lying in a neat, folded heap on my sewing table? Oh, and isn’t that backing fabric called Lava Lamp cute?? We almost purchased that fabric in the wide width for Sydney’s t-shirt quilt we made – one year ago or was that two years ago already?? Two flippin’ years ago already – geez, time is truly whizzing by.

I’ve been practicing the leaf stitching design along with stitching out Violet Adelaide’s name somewhere on the quilt top. She’ll have fun looking for it, I hope.

One apple block is quilted and it looks fine on the back as well. I kind of forgot how to “draw” a leaf . . . but I finally found my groove. I’m not even Stella!

To-Do #2

It’s here! It’s here! I had my doubts (not really) because the mailing ticket and tracking number were sent to me on the 10th. With no movement for four days, surely that email was sent by mistake. The fabric for the second annual Positivity QAL is truly here now. Can I say it’s even better in person?!! The QAL started officially on May 29th. Starting a new project is always fun for us. It’s also a color palette we rarely use. Now, where did we put the Positivity block instructions?!!

Look how nicely the Tan Bella solid fabric matches the top 10″ piece of the layer cake! Now that’s a different background fabric for us. I know – it’s tan, which is just a wee bit darker than our usual ecru or beige. But it IS different – we can take this small credit for a new background choice. HAHA!

To-Do #3

A pressing mat from the Prairie Spirit Alpacas company arrived and it is so nice and soft. My plans to be an ironing fool (yes, FOOL!) and knock out all of the pieces for the Two and Four QAL have languished. I love to iron – it’s just so satisfying. But it’s so flippin’ hot lately. I’m not a huge fan of ironing when it is 100 degrees. So my review of this soft alpaca pressing mat will have to wait a few days. I have my doubts that it will ever cool off but I’m hesitant to even think that because I’m not eager to return to a polar vortex. Might it be possible to meet somewhere in the middle?! That seems to be too much to ask.

A little ironing did happen though . . . not that I can say what this is for. All will be revealed by the end of the week.

To-Do for the week of June 21st through 27th:

  1. Enjoy the four-day weekend spent with our littles! We are going to have fun, fun, FUN
  2. Nothing else – no time for sewing at all this week
  3. Two limit list for another stress-free week!

Fantastic fabric choices Roseanne. Plus you are making me feel like I have made sooo much progress since many (tho not all) of my pieces are cut. Yahoo! You will get it done. You always do!! Thanks for participating in the QAL. We are so grateful for the quilts we receive!

  2. The Apple Quilt is just so yummy. Do you think we need a peanut butter quilt to go along :-p Have a great weekend and checkout the Positivity Linky Party on Bernie’s blog today.

The apple quilt is looking great! You have had a good week, and have another good week ahead, I think! I have some wool mats and I like them, but I think my iron runs hot, because mine get scorched. Have fun with those littles!

  4. The quilting on the apple quilt is looking wonderful, Roseanne! And fun new fabric for Positivity, too. Won’t that be fun to sew with?! Have a great time with those littles!

  5. Enjoy the long weekend and no sewing! The leaf motif is perfect for the apple quilt, and putting her name in is a lovely addition. Love the Christmas fabric. Ouch to ironing in such heat, not my favourite ironing but in that heat! We now had our shortest day yesterday and was it COLD. Not maybe to your extent of cold but still cold. I think the sun will be out today though ( only 7:50am now) but looks promising. That Alpaca mat looks good.

Your list is getting done in interesting ways…love checking it off anyway. The apple quilt looks fab! The new positivity quilt will be awesome. I am sure you will have a blast on your 4 day weekend. Good luck not needing a vacay after 4 days with the littles!

  7. Oh, that apple quilt is fantastic and so happy you found YOUR groove!! LOL I love that background with your layer cake!! So pretty. I don’t blame you for not pressing, it’s really HOT! Even with the air on here, when I’m at my machine and the iron is on, it’s warm! I usually have to put my hair up off my neck and am glistening (us southern gals glisten! LOL) a bit when Gary comes through to take the dog out! Have fun with your littles this week!

Oh oh oh the apple quilt! I’ve not seen that one yet–too cute and too fun for fabric play! You’ve gotten some fun goodies in the mail lately! I’m going to feel a little left out this year I guess–I just don’t think I can squeeze in a positivity quilt this time. But, who knows? Maybe if I can get all caught up, I’ll jump in late? When are the tops to be done?

  9. Fun! Fun! Fun! Atta Girl! 🙂

Sometimes we just have to check it off, even when it’s not done! Love the new fabric, can’t wait to see it become something. And you sneak, always hiding your sewing plans!! Enjoy time off.

  11. Vicki in MN says:

You always make me giggle and don’t we all need a little of that each day! Four whole days of littles?? You will be exhausted and have another week of no sewing, LOL. Nice work on the apple quilt, your leaves look great.

  12. Yippee! It’s time for a vacay! Enjoy your first trip of the season, Roseanne.

  13. Linda says:

Hi my Friend! LOL at “checking it off anyway”! The apple quilt looks wonderful, and I love the backing. I love ironing too!!! When I was growing up I used to sit on my Mom’s bed and watch her iron. I guess we talked, I don’t remember, but what a wonderful memory, plus I learned to iron by watching her. Where are you going with the Littles, or are you staying home?
Thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday!
