To-Do Tuesday #254 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 254th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Linda hosts the To-Do Tuesday linky party and we thank you, Linda!

To-Do for the week of April 26th through May 2nd:

  1. Layer Home-Stars table runner √ Done
  2. Start quilting Have A BallHAHAHAHAHAHA – not done
  3. No more – stress-free motto adherence!

Winner of the Synergy pattern:

Our winner of Synergy, the pattern recently released by our friend Preeti is . . . drumroll, please . . . Brenda from Songbird Designs. You will more info about our version called Collaboration and the blog hop that coincided with the release in our post.

To-Do #1

Layering the Home-Stars table runner wasn’t a difficult task at all. Sue is a good quilting partner to have – she found the backing and batting to fit, so all I had to do was to give everything a good pressing.

We’re using a simple grey and white polka dot fabric on the back. I think it may be leftover from a Dominic project when he was a baby . . . our love of dots has persisted for quite a few years. This has to be finished before May 19th when we host TGIFF again.

To-Do #2

Our May OMG focus project is the Have A Ball quilt so we couldn’t really begin quilting it before now. Right?! At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I did, however, move the whole enchilada to my sewing machine table. That’s definitely a step in the right direction. A two-inch spaced crosshatch is the quilting pattern of choice. Four weekends to get it complete – that sounds doable. I didn’t take a layered picture so you’ll have to see the hanging finished quilt top again.

To-Do for the week of May 3rd through 9th:

  1. Get one-quarter of the quilting finished
  2. Find fabric for a quilted journal cover
  3. Two is enough to keep it stress-free

Ha! My love of polka dots has been there since high school! I made my prom dress: black top but with two layers (gathered–yards and yards of it!) of white w/black polka dot satin for the skirt. The layers went up in front, down in back–remember that style? Then I trimmed the bottom of each layer out with 1″ black ribbon. Oh, did I have fun designing that one! THEN I found the perfect earrings! White bows with black polka dots! I’m still crazy about dots! Okay, enough memory lane! I do love how that is coming along–cheery little houses under the stars!

I love the ball quilt. It is a good challenge to quilt 1/4 each week. Hmmm I need quite a few different backings for various projects this week. Polka dots may work well. I tend to use up my polka dots as fast I get them so I doubt I have enough in my stash. LOL! Good luck on this week’s projects. Stress Free makes for a happy week!

I need to take a page from your book and just make a small list! Cause you know I’d keep to that list, right? Lovely progress.

  4. Dots are fun and energetic! I bet you get that big quilt done for sure this month! 🙂

Here’s for stress-free. I pin based a baby quilt on Sunday and haven’t done any more on it. Why does the quilting and binding hold the least appeal. I’d rather just make the tops and get one of Addison’s wand to wave over that so it would be finished in the blink of an eye. Here’s for finishing the runner by the 19th.

  6. Would you share Sue with those of us who need help with backings and layering? 🙂 That’s always such a huge job! I bet your quilting on the ball quilt will go fast now that you’re ready for it!

  7. Wendy says:

You’ll have these done in no time! Congrats to Brenda!

  8. Judy Blauer says:

Who Hoo for polka dots! I like them too! I agree with Brenda. The layering is a huge part of getting a quilt to the finish line! Looking forward to seeing the table runner at TGIFF. Peace!

  9. Dawn says:

Home-Stars table runner – gorgeous! I love polka dots too – that one is perfect. Good luck with your quilting on Have A Ball. 🙂

  11. Vicki in MN says:

You can definitely get #2 done, and just a little quilting on the ball quilt should keep you accountable with #3:) Have a good week ladies!

  12. I received my pattern from Preeti. It is a fun pattern! I have always loved dots, and still do! You may not have gotten the quilting done, but you got it layered…and that’s a big job to me! Glad you are keeping it stress free! Just have fun!
