To-Do #52+47 Weekly Recap Update

This is our 99th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Mondays, and Christine’s Stitch All the Things website on Tuesdays.  We’re trying a new linky party today at Becca’s What I Made Monday at her website Pretty Piney.

To-Do for the week of February 25th through March 3rd:

  1. Find fabrics for Dumbo quilt – √ done
  2. Group B for Hidden Stars – √ done

To-Do #1

We were given the gift of a new project.  A coworker asked us to make a baby quilt featuring Dumbo.  I shared all the details in our March OMG post, but here is the center panel we will be using for the quilt.  What a sweet message for a baby.

To-Do #2

Group B blocks for Hidden Star QAL has been a happening.  Sunday late afternoon had all of them block sewn with some serious chain piecing ensuing.  Trimming to the correct size needed and that’s it.  Phew!  Tuesday is the next instruction from Sherry so we can relax for a day.  ~smile~

March OMG

Our March goal with Patty at Elm Street Quilts is to complete a Dumbo baby quilt for a coworker.

To-Do for the week of March 4th through March 10th

  1. Start cutting the borders for Dumbo
  2. Bee hive blocks for Mary – paper piecing (EEK!)
  3. I haven’t felt like sewing much lately, so probably nothing will happen

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

That’s a fabulous center, and I can hardly wait to see what goes around it. Great March goal!

This time of year just steals the crafty joy! I do love that Dumbo panel. How sweet is that for a baby quilt!

  3. Happy 99! I love the Dumbo, the good old fashioned one too 🙂
Sometimes taking a break from sewing renews your desire to sew again.

That panel is precious. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

I agree with Wendy – sew something small. Maybe the intimidation of paper piecing has put a wrench in the wheel? I now if I have a project that intimidates me or one that I just don’t really like but must get done, my creativity loves to bury it’s head in the sand. Perhaps visit with your fabrics and re-arrange them, or think about making something small for Addi – a bib or a burp cloth? Spring WILL be here – promise!

Sorry to hear your mojo has been missing again. Maybe the Spring, which has to be coming soon, right?, will give it back?

  7. Hello Roseanne, I am looking forward to seeing every step you show of the Dumbo quilt. With that fun panel and the fabulous way in which you and Sue work together, every quilt ends up being a masterpiece! It can be hard to overcome the sewing “blues” but with it being one of the things that we truly do love to do. It does return in full force and then you will feel like playing catch up. At least that is what happens to me. It could have a lot to do with the weather, also. Today, is the first day here that the sunshine actually feels warm. I will have to get the dogs a tad bit later and go for a walk around the yard and see what all of my flower gardens are doing! I hope that you have a fantastic day!

  8. Gail says:

The Dumbo quilt promises to be very cute! Can’t wait to see what you do for the borders!
Isn’t chain piecing the best? I still shake my head at people that cut the thread between each block!
    Happy Quilting! 🙂

Ugh — this snow, this gray, this cold….I do believe that silly groundhog has tricked us again….

  10. It’s okay if your sewing mojo has taken a break; just play with some things. Do something different that you like — read a book, do a painting. Then maybe stitch just one little block. Sooner or later, it will come back. I’m convinced it’s the weather – cabin fever, for sure!

  11. Jan says:

Winter has been too long and harsh this year. I think you need some loving from the precious ones. The Dumbo saying is cute. Good luck finding your mojo, a silly leprechaun has kidnapped it. Hugs.
