To-Do #52+34 Weekly Recap Update

This is our 86th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Mondays, and Christine’s Stitch All the Things website on Tuesdays.  Check it out as other friends post their to-do lists as well! ~smile~

To-Do for the week of November 26th through December 2nd:

  1. Add borders to George – √ done
  2. Start quilting Up From Here – √ done
  3. Keep from tearing my hair out over EQ8√ done

To-Do #1

We decided to add three borders to Baby Girl’s quilt.  George the giraffe has a gray background.  Here’s a closeup of two of the three borders.  There’ll be one more wide gray border on the left side, where it’ll get the most wear and tear.  We can’t reveal any more until she’s born.  ♥ ♥

To-Do #2

Oh, yes indeed!  Quilting has definitely been happening on Up From Here.  I am pretty darn sure that there will be a full reveal on Friday.  We’ll have a final recap of the sew along before the end of 2018, too.  I had to test out my idea of feathers on the acrylic board before sitting down and sewing them.

To-Do #3

A huge Thank You goes to Shannon at  The Flemings Nine.  She wrote after reading my list from last Monday and offered her assistance.  She told me her son, who’s 15, is a whiz at EQ8.  I sent her my hummingbird file – after giving export a try to see if it really created a file.  It did!  She sent it back with some tips and tricks.  I think Shannon’s son has a bright future – maybe he can teach some EQ8 classes!  Plus her daughter is interested in sewing and quilting.  Kudos to the next generation!  There is still hope for a hummingbird paper piecing sew along in January.

December OMG

This month we chose to finish quilting and binding our Jigsaw baby quilt.  We are linking with Patty at Elm Street Quilts where other friends share their goal for the month.  A possible secondary goal would be to finish writing the pattern, but that’s a slim chance since EQ8 is giving both of us fits over that knob piece.  It could happen though since Shannon give me some tips!

To-Do December 3rd through 9th

  1. Continue working on George
  2. Figure out the quilting pattern for Fireburst
  3. Start work on the Quiet Book

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

Oh, those fabrics for that border are so perfect! Love that giraffe print! How exciting to read that the next generation is showing an interest and being involved with this craft. I love it!

You are stepping along at a great pace. Boohoo! I want to see more of George! Your quilting on Up From Here is wonderful. I’m so impressed with your FMQ skills growth.

I can’t wait to see what you do with the hummingbird. I set out my feeders every spring and this year we had about six of them hanging around. I also have a bottle brush bush that they just love. It’s very entertaining watching them fight over those feeders. I always wonder why they can’t share, I put out plenty. It seems the dominate ones perch on top of them and don’t let any one else at them.

I am loving the feathers in Up From Here! I’m hoping to quilt mine after the new year…I have to climb my mountain of Fireburst Quilts first 🙂 I can’t wait to see how you decide to quilt yours.

  6. Glad you found EQ8 help — I still am on the fence deciding if I want to purchase the software. I’m so old school using graph paper 🙂 You and Sue amaze me with all you get done!

  7. You guys are busy especially quilty wise. And learning too. I’m envious of those feathers…as a person who is proud to be making straight lines with the walkingfoot you can see why I’d be totally impressed. Happy Stitching you two.

How great is that- a fellow quilter sharing her sons talent with EQ8! I love the way those feathers are looking. Good luck this week getting your projects done.

  9. Rebecca Grace says:

So glad you were able to get the help you need with EQ8! I ordered the printed manual and lesson books during the 20% off holiday sale and I’m looking forward to working through them to learn more about what the software can do. There’s only so much you can figure out by muddling around clicking buttons to see what happens! 🙂

  10. You have some good goals set, and it must be very satisfying to see those three “done” checks for this past week. You deserve a cookie or two!
