- Sew Up From Here blocks together – √ done
- Sew many leaves for Baby Girl’s quilt – √ done
To-Do #1
This Plus Playtime quilt seems so much bigger than the first one we made, at least now that it’s time to quilt it. I decided to quilt each of the smaller plus signs with different quilt patterns. Or at least different patterns for those plus signs near each other. I discovered that it is very hard to see stippling with black thread on black fabric. Here is a few of the designs I attempted and the quilt is about one-third complete. In the solid black background plus symbol I am doing straight-line(ish) quilting. By using the edge of the FMQing foot, I discovered I can do fairly straight lines and then stitch-in-the-ditch over for the next line. I kind of enjoy the small loop in the larger loop pattern as it is very easy and forgiving to stitch.To-Do #2
These four blocks are now a flimsy, with seams pressed open on the back. I can’t help but notice there is a lot of open space to be quilted. Hmm, how shall I quilt this? That’s a worry for another day. ~smile~To-Do #3
Baby Girl’s giraffe quilt calls for leaves, leaves and more leaves. Ugg, they are not my favorite thing to stitch around I’m sorry to say. So much time spent stitching slowly, but these will look so cute when they are all complete. Someday.October OMG
We did pick our Elm Street Quilts’ October OMG goal. We posted about it last week, in this Our October 2018 OMG Goal and we selected the Las Vegas Leaves to complete. Thanks to the Craftsy/Bluprint free access last week, I think I found the perfect quilting pattern to use on this flimsy.To-Do October 15th through 21st:
- Start quilting the October OMG
- Continue sewing leaves for Baby Girl’s quilt
- Check our Fireburst blocks to see if we made them correctly – Sue is not convinced!

Lots of great progress! The quilting looks great. How fun to quilt different designs in the plus signs! Lots of quilting fun in all that space on the flimsy top. I can see how sewing all of the leaves might not be as much fun as the other parts of quilt making. I know when I get to those “ugh” parts I just tell myself to get it done. Even when I’m internally stomping my foot and telling myself I don’t want to…LOL!!!
Good week last week, hope it’s as successful this week! Wonderful projects going on at your house.
Look at you all fancy schmancy with your FMQ! I love all the different patterns on the plus signs. And I think that straight line quilting would look awesome on your open spaces in the Up Quilt! But, as you say, that is for another day. Hope your week is wonderful and full of things you love.
Hello Roseanne, Always wonderful to see the progress on all of your projects! Your quilting continues to improve and wow did you ever do a spectacular job on the straight line Freemotion quilting! The polka dot quilt (I forget the proper name…LOL) is adorable! Just a tiny thought on the quilting, but what about all sizes of circles in a variegated thread that would stand out just enough. Seriously, I had not read the information, just looking at the picture and that is what I was thinking. Have fun doing whatever you decide to do! With my love of applique, just send the quilt to me and I will attach all of the leaves for you! I am looking forward to seeing this quilt all the way through the process. Just remember to have fun. Put on some Toby Keith dancing music and you and that needle will be bouncing to the beat and sewing it all down. LOL. Sorry that I have missed a few posts, it may happen again this week also. I always miss your fun filled posts! Have a marvelous day!
All the best with the plans, yes black thread on black fabric is hard to see, but I enlarged the photo and got a good look! I like those circles in circles too.
Looks like you have some fun stuff going on! Can’t wait to see the Giraffe quilt!!
I like where you are going with the Plus Playtime! I haven’t quilted mine yet either. I’m discovering my left shoulder gets really sore when I machine quilt. So I need to space the quilting times out a bit to let it rest. Curious to see how you will quilt Up From Here. Of course, I can’t wait to see the giraffe quilt!
Good morning Roseanne! Your quilting looks great on the Plus Playtime quilt! – it will be a great gift for Luke! I wish I had the patience for FMQ —
