November Yellow Color Challenge Block
Jen just recently released the 2019 November Color Challenge block, and the color is . . . yellow. Yellow as in the Black-Eyed Susan flower which is a very popular, common one at that. Otherwise known as Rudbeckia, you can easily see that it is a member of the daisy family. It is the state flower of Maryland and found in all 48 contiguous states in the United States plus all 10 Canadian Provinces. We chose this pretty yellow fabric along with the sand dotted Swiss that has been a constant in all ten blocks before this one.
November Yellow Highlights
This 12-inch block will join the other monthly blocks that have been colors taken from flowers. Once all the HSTs were sewn it was just a matter of laying them out according to the pattern.
I always enjoy a good pinwheel especially in the center of the block. This yellow batik has movement to it as well with a sort of swirl design to it. Here is the November yellow color block next to last month’s red block.
Just one more block to go for 2019 and we can whip up a quilt top. Perhaps even before the end of the year is out it could be complete. December’s color is purple like the crocus. I think that is a fitting way to wrap up the year and this block of the month challenge.
We don’t want to forget to wish everyone a Happy Veteran’s Day in the USA. We support and thank all of our Veterans for their courageous service both past and present, as well as their families.

I love yellow, I had a yellow car for many years that I adored. Unfortunately it had to go and I still miss it. But yay for yellow and pinwheels.
Pinwheels are a favorite of mine. Your blocks look great and I love that yellow.
Hello Roseanne, Pinwheel Blocks always catch my attention and your block with this beautiful yellow is lovely. Very nice of you to share all of the information on the Black-Eyed Susan, very fascinating information. None of my Black-Eyed Susan’s came up this year. Probably my fault in not doing enough in my flower garden this year. I am looking forward to seeing next months block, purple is my favorite color. Hee, Hee, Hee… although since becoming a quilter, fabrics in all of their glory have broadened my , well everything, towards colors. I am sure that all quilters are that way. I hope that you and Sue continue to have a blast creating blocks and quilts and sharing them with us! Have a fantastic day!!
Pretty block to add with your other beauties!
There’s that dotted fabric again…only in golden dots. That is fast becoming your signature go-to neutral ‘design’ fabric and ya know?
It works!
A nice bright yellow to makes us think of sunshine on this cold week ahead of us-at least for us in MN.
Love that yellow fabric! And I appreciate all the info about the Black-Eyed Susan 🙂 I love quilts with bold colors, and this quilt certainly has them. Have a great day, Mary.
