To-Do #52+13 – Weekly Update

This is our 65th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Mondays, and Christine’s Stitch All the Things website on Tuesdays.  Check it out as other friends post their to-do lists as well! ~smile~

To-Do for the week July 2nd through 8th:

  1. Complete the July step in Fireburst – √ done
  2. Select the fabrics for our sew along – √ done
  3. Determine the mug rug design for Christmas in July – not done

To-Do #1

Tish and Dave release the next step in their Fireburst mystery QAL on the first of each month.  By the 4th of July I finally remembered to print out the instructions for flying geese and a square-in-a-square.  I am so glad I remembered because we were able to get all the steps completed this weekend.  We will await the August instructions for our next step!

To-Do #2

Our no stress sew along that started on July 1st kind of snuck up on us.  Not that we didn’t know when it was July 1st, but rather that we were on vacation and Sue went to Virginia and came home sick.  Then there was the appliances fiasco and boom – here we are in July already.  We did hunt through our stash to pick the fabrics for Up From Here, or option #1 of the three choices.  It is definitely not too late to join in, if you are interested.  We chose some solids that were leftover from my Postcard quilt along with a few from our stash:.

To-Do #3

We both seem to have a creative block as far as a mug rug design.  Nothing seems to be floating our boat so to speak, so it remains to be seen if we come up with one. ~

Extra:

We decided to start working on the table and island runners that we need for a bridal shower at the end of the month.  We chose the Whip It Up pattern and tutorial to follow (for the most part) because of its versatility and ease to make it.  Here is the first of 14 blocks that we’ll be making over the course of the next few weeks.

The teal is actually a little darker as is the light gray strip.  I also took a black and white photo to see how the fabrics read.  This makes for a nice leader/ender for our Christmas in July project that needs to be complete by the 24th.  Eek!

July OMG Goal:

Our Elm Street Quilts June OMG goal is to sew our Christmas in July blog hop item.

To-Do July 9th through 15th:

  1. Continue on with the two runners
  2. Work on the Christmas in July project

I can’t believe we are working on July things, it is a little scary! I do hope you come up with a great and satisfying mug rug to make. I have a couple I made when I was first starting out, and would like to make some more when I can reach on it too.
