T-shirt Quilt is June OMG Project

It is June already.  Graduations are in the air and school years are winding down or are over.  Perhaps not quite the way it was envisioned back at the start of the school year, but over nevertheless.  It is time for us to select our project to work on this month as our June OMG.  Patty at Elm Street Quilts hosts a monthly OMG linky party and we take great inspiration from this.  Thank you, Patty – we sure do appreciate the linkup opportunity each month.  In the graduation and end-of-school-year spirit, we are going to finish the t-shirt quilt for Sydney.

Sydney T-Shirt OMG

My great-niece, Sydney, has had a lot of excitement in her life recently.  She just turned 18-years-old and is graduating from high school.  Throughout her schooling, Sydney has excelled in both swimming and gymnastics.  She gave us a bag of t-shirts and sweatshirts saved from a variety of meets and competitions.

T-shirt Quilt for Sydney

For the month of June, our OMG project is to quilt this behemoth and get it into the new graduate’s hands.

And the birthday girl with her absolute favorite chocolate cake – there is never too much chocolate!  Happy Birthday, Sydney!  It won’t be long and she will be off to college in Wisconsin, assuming they have on-campus classes.  We’ll see!

Doesn’t this cake look delicious?!  The sprinkles make it even more delicious and special, at least for Syd.

Great goal for June! I’ll take one piece of cake please. As people post picks of their young adult family members, they look so young. Close my eyes and I think it was yesterday for me to be that age. I can remember days so clearly of things that happened. Open my eyes and I can’t remember what day it is or what I went in the other room to find. Have a great one today.
