Blue June Monthly Color Block

We are playing along with Jen at Patterns By Jen and her monthly color blocks.  This month’s color is blue.  Since Jen is focusing on birds for her color inspiration this year this month’s bird is the Blue Bird.  Even more specifically, the Mountain Blue Bird and it has many different pretty shades of blue.

Blue June Block

It sure wasn’t a difficult block to put together and these pretty fabrics made it all the easier.  Since we picked out this fabric bundle called Crayola Kaleidoscope last year, we’ve been pairing it with a nice solid black.  The black lets all of the colors just sing.

One more look to see how the light catches all the different sides of the kaleidoscope!

Finished Blue June Block

June finished

It didn’t take long for that all the fabric prep Sue provided to have a finished block.  Sorry for the dark photo – the monsoon weather we’ve been having from the tropical doesn’t allow for any sunny photos!

Blocks 1-6

Here’s a look at all six of our blocks from the 2020 monthly color challenge.  I am liking where these are going!

You are doing a great job of keeping up with this … and everything else, I think.

  2. I agree with all those who are saying yeah! to the black background, wow. It’s great to see a quilt you do slowly over the months start to actually become!

It is really coming together nicely and I so love those Crayola fabrics. Let me see if I can find some of those for myself before they are gone. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down, a block is better than nothing and yours is very pleasing to the eye.

  4. Great blocks! The black looks so nice with all these colors, and I love Crayola Kaleidoscope fabrics. Hey I thought those of us in the southwest had the monopoly on monsoons! Take care, Mary.

Hello Roseanne, The blue fabric you and Sue chose for this month is such a unique and beautiful combination. The way in which fabric artists design their fabrics always amazes me. I wish that the arts were one of the talents that were gifted to me, yet I am very lucky to be able to draw stick people. Laughing, but very true. So, I am very appreciative of all of their amazing talents and then of course that leads into the way in which other quilt artists are able to design patterns. I am thrilled that you are continuing on this wonderful journey, this quilt is going to be gorgeous! Thank you for sharing all of your talents with us as it inspires more than you will know!!! Have a fantastic day!

This will make a lovely quilt when all the blocks are done. I like that each block has a different color to it.

Oh yes, this is going to be a beautiful quilt! Each block adds another beauty to the mix!

  10. Looking good! I love the way the light reflects on those fabrics. Now, this proved an excellent reminder to pick up my block where I am to bring it to join its mates in Maine!

  11. When you post about your block, it’s always a good reminder for me to get to work on mine, Roseanne! This does look like a quick one to make. I continue to love that fabric line you’re using with these, and they are all great with their black backgrounds, too!

  12. I finally have mine downloaded and going to work on them this week along with a few other projects that I am starting to work on. Back to quilting! Hugs Like your colors – remember I purchased the same fabrics in December to work on this one! Hummmm a little late

  13. I have to say, that black background is really working well for your blocks! This is going to be a really nice quilt!
