Postcard Flimsy! Postcard Flimsy!
YAY! Yippee skippy! Woohoo! Do you get the idea that something very exciting has happened? It has! My Postcard from Sweden quilt is now a flimsy. Let me share the beauty first, without further adieu.
Queen Size Postcard from Sweden
Isn’t it just gorgeous?! I love it so much and it will really brighten up my bedroom. In February of this year, Sandra from MMM quilts started a QAL for Postcard and I joined in. Before that, Shannon of Flemings Nine shared this wonderful photo last October of her gorgeous quilt:
This is Shannon’s king size quilt that she listed in her Etsy shop. Those pillowcases – I adore them! This inspiration led me to purchasing a stack of fabric that same month. Sandra’s QAL inspired the cutting commencement and the first two blocks as a trial.
Next steps included a lot of sewing HSTs, ironing and trimming. Lots and lots of trimming.
Speed ahead to a successful Saturday filled with sewing the last two rows of the 16 blocks x 17 row queen size flimsy. Put a period on it! Except for the two pillow shams that need to still be laid out, sewn and eventually quilted.
This flimsy will be ready for the final parade on Sandra’s website later this month. Perhaps a little quilting will commence as well. I can’t wait to have this on my bed, and snuggle under it.

Hi Roseanne, It looks really great. Congrats!
Thanks for linking this beauty up, and too funny, but zzzzip! You are the one who hosted the Regatta QAL (which is still ongoing, n’est-ce pas?!) because it’s a quilt I so want to make… So funny when I saw on Shannon’s IG that quilt, and read she’d done it in your QAL…and I went Oh! and the pieces fell into place. 🙂
it’s beautiful and looks great there on the bed.
Absolutely stunning! I wish I would have participated. I’ve got to buy myself a kit now.
Roseanne, it is truly WONDERFUL!!! Thanks for the inspiration photo from Shannon – ch-ching! pillow cases! I so hope you have it quilted or started quilting for the finish parade in (gulp) 5 days! (says she in a small voice whose flimsy is needing 3 more rows…)
Roseanne, I just love this quilt. You made the process look so easy. I can’t wait to see it quilted. 🙂
Wow this has been a quilt pattern I have admired since I started quilting and your flimsy turned out amazing!!! Can’t wait to see it in the parade!
Wow! What a happy, joyful, stunning quilt you made. It makes me want to start one too. Thank you for sharing your beautiful project.
You just couldn’t be down in the dumps looking at those bright lovely colours. Awesome.
So pretty! I love the pillows.
Lovely! Very cheerful for yet another gray day in April.
Yippee!!! So happy for your flimsy finish!
Way to go!!! It certainly is a happy quilt! And yes – you do need to make those pillow shams … they are wonderful! Congratulations!
It is wonderful! I had not heard of this quilt along, but I have completed a quilt top just last week that looks similar. Although, my colors are totally different.
ps- wonderfully brilliant colors and great workmanship!

Showing my ignorance here, but: What exactly does the term ‘flimsy’ mean in terms of defining a quilt?
That is a big finish and one you should be very proud of! Lots of trimming…but worth every second of it!
Oh!, so nice and bright, just what we are needing right now.
Yes! You did it! Congrats!!! Looks great!
Oh, I didn’t realize you were making a queen size! Woohoo! I’m so happy for you. Isn’t it a grand feeling to be done! It will look fantastic on your bed! Enjoy!
So bright and cheerful! What a nice welcome for warmer days.
This is beautiful and will look even more amazing when it’s quilted…love it!
It’s so beautiful, just wait till you quilt it!! You did that pretty fast-good for you:) Have a great weekend.
Congrats on your finished flimsy. 🙂
