Happy Halloween Runner for ANJ

After making a Halloween topper for her mom in 2021, Andrea asked us to make her a runner for her table or peninsula. The four basic figures were appliqued last March and we added a few test sashing strips and a border to the design wall. It hung on the wall for quite a while, through no fault of its own. Honestly, what was the rush? Halloween was months away at that point, right?!

Halloween Months Away

Sure, it was months away but it would still be nice if it were able to be used in 2023. Okay. So, Halloween isn’t my holiday. It does nothing for me . . . I don’t care if we decorate . . . and then, the littles arrived. It’s amazing how those little bitty humans can change your outlook, isn’t it? All of a sudden, I know the Paw Patrol dogs and kitties. There is a new movie coming out in less than two weeks! Sonic and Sonic Speed suddenly had meaning, and it’s NOT the drive-in. Monster trucks? Who knew a two-year-old would and does adore them? So, anyway . . . back to Halloween. The table runner got itself sewn and finished for a quilting session.

Said session was held at the end of June, with plenty of time to add a binding. Dare I hasten a guess that Loop the Loop quilting design was used, and this runner is truly reversible. That’s a happy happenstance!

Whose Halloween Runner?

While initially, this table runner was for Andrea, it seems that it may have been claimed by a younger member of her family. One of the rare weekends that ANJ could visit, we happily turned over possession to her one Sunday. Addison was more than happy to help Gamma hold the runner for a picture . . .

or two! Incidentally, she was so happy to help with the picture that her baby was discarded in a quick second.

Happy Halloween Continued

Once the runner made it home, Addison was still happy to pose with her runner. Yes, her table runner. Her favorite character is the mummy, if you were wondering. Dominic calls it a ghost – I can see that!

The conversation went something like this:

Addi: Mom, you found my Halloween quilt. Thank you.

Mom: It’s an island runner.

Dominic: Mom! It doesn’t run . . . it’s a quilt.

Gotta love it when our peeps argue over who an item belongs to! We can easily make more (and should, for our Etsy shop)! Happy Halloween to you and yours. We will be decorating . . . maybe.

Catching up today and so glad I did! That is hysterical…it doesn’t run it’s a quilt! That was my happy story of the day. Love the runner but like you, I’m not into Halloween. It’s a great runner though! Love that it is two sided! Have a great day and hugs!

Now, that is one cute table runner. Yes, little kids have a way of returning us to our youth. I like that Addi was so excited she forgot her baby. And Dominic is already getting in ready for the teenage years. Enjoy those littles. They do bring a smile to the face.

  7. Cheree Hull says:

HA! (How did they get to be called runners anyway? I’m assuming they “run down the table”?). She loves it!

All too adorable! Love the runner and love Addision’s claiming it and the Dominic declaring it doesn’t run! They are precious. My husband isn’t big into decorating, but I do like to have a little around. Time to get out my Halloween placemats!
