One Year Blogiversary and a Giveaway
February 11, 2017, I wrote a short post as our very first message. This blog was started as a diversion for Sue, to keep her busy in her retirement. Fast forward one year, and Sue isn’t retired and she has only written one post. Happy blogiversary, Home Sewn By Us. I can’t help but share some of our stats for the year:

Blogiversary Fun:
Enough of the stats – I could go on and on. I find that kind of stuff fascinating. Now for the good stuff! Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts has designed the cutest pattern that has struck my fancy for months. Giraffes In a Row is its name. I love everything about it – the bright colors, the friendly faces, the dark gray background:
Their cute little faces have always spoke to me, whispering that we need to make a quilt from this pattern. We decided that not only did we need this pattern, but that we also needed to share it with someone else. We reached out to Lorna to ask her how we could go about this for an unknown person, to-be-determined after our blogiversary raffle. Lorna graciously has agreed to help us send our winner a pattern of their choice!
Blogiversary Giveaway:
How do you win a pattern as cute as Giraffes In a Row? Visit the link below for your entries: one for leaving a comment below, and one for following us. Hi Joy,
Thank you so much! It’s been a fun year. Good luck in the raffle. ~smile~ Roseanne
So fun about stats. I love Lorna’s patterns, all of them. I’m following her. And now you also have an extra follower.
Good Morning,
Thank you so much! I agree – Lorna does have a lot of really nice patterns. I wish you good luck in the raffle, and appreciate that you are following us. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on your blog anniversary! Impressive stats! I never looked at my stats…wonder what they would look like 😉
Hi Dawn,
Fortunately or unfortunately, Word Press puts your stats right in your face. I look at them almost every day . . . just for fun. HAHA! Thanks so much for visiting and commenting, and I do hope you come again. ~smile~ Roseanne
congrats! As you know I follow you through I Like posts at least!! I love your writing style and unique way of looking at the world. The giraffe pattern is so stinkin cute I want to make it and I don’t even have a working machine available at the moment!! LeeAnna at not afraid of color
Hi LeeAnna,
You are sweet – I didn’t think I have a writing style. It’s closely resembles how I speak because I rarely get a chance to write at all any more. I used to have pen pals . . . dating myself! I wish you the best of luck in the drawing. The giraffes seem to be the big vote getter in my informal, mental poll. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on your blogaversary! I love the Horse Unicorn pattern!
Hi Cecilia,
Thank you so much for visiting and commenting! We appreciate it very much and hope you visit again. Good luck in the raffle. ~smile~ Roseanne
P.S. my favorite of her patterns is the Blackbirds quilt! Would really like to make that one someday!
Congratulations on your blogiversary, Roseanne and Sue! I agree, blogging is a great diversion, whether you are retired or not! I found you through LeeAnna’s I Like Thursday. Thanks for letting us join in the fun with the nice giveaway!
Hi Diann,
Thank you so much! The Thursday bunch is a great crew of peeps. I always find something to be thankful for or to like that I overlooked. The whole idea behind it is just in my wheelhouse – I love looking for the gold or silver lining in everything. Good luck with the giveaway – you are the first asking for the Blackbirds quilt. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congrats on your Blogiversary! I love giraffes and this giraffe pattern is so cute! I’d love to win it!
Hi Nicole,
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting. I agree about the giraffes and it seems to be the informal vote winner! Good luck in the drawing. ~smile~ Roseanne
Happy Blogaversity! Your blog is so polished it seems like you have you have been blogging for years.
Hi Kate,
Well, aren’t you the sweetest! Nah, it’s not – I need a Word Press class sometime to show me all the ins and outs. But it sure has been a fun year! ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on your one year anniversary!
Hi Carole,
Thank you so much! It has been a fun year, ‘meeting’ lots of new blogger and non-blogger friends. ~smile~ Roseanne
Roseanne, CONGRATULATIONS on the blog anniversary! Good thing you picked up the ball and kept it rolling! Here’s to another successful year! 🙂
Hi Cindy,
I am having a ball with this blog, I have to say. I can hardly wait for the New Bloggers blog hop to start. All the things I’ll learn, all the people I’ll meet. It will be great! I am so glad I ‘met’ you and can count you amongst my friends. ~smile~ Roseanne
Me too! 🙂
Happy blogiversary to you. Hopefully you will consider joining the new bloggers blog hop that will take place shortly. Lorna has so many great patterns is will be hard to choose just one.

Happy Blogiversary!! Love the list of all the stats, especially the country list – wow! Keep up the good work!
Hi Susan,
I don’t know how some of those folks found their way to this blog, but I’m glad they did. Thanks for the good wishes. ~smile~ Roseanne
I’m so happy for you and your blog. I love that giraffe pattern.
Hi again,
It won’t be long and you’ll be there too! I wish you good luck in the drawing, and one more vote for the giraffe. I think they are adorable. ~smile~ Roseanne
I love the giraffe pattern
Hi Lori,
Good luck in the raffle! ~smile~ Roseanne
omg lovely <3
perfect gift for v-day… thank you for the chance
Hi Syeda,
Thank you for visiting and commenting. Good luck in the drawing! ~smile~ Roseanne
PS, hard to choose just one, as I liked several, but I might have to go with the giraffes, too … unless the love birds won out, or the cars. =)
Hi again,
Well I’ll ask again if you are the winner so you get the one you want. ~smile~ Roseanne
Wow – great numbers for your first year! Congrats.
Hi June,
Thank you so much! I appreciate it very much. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on one year! That’s a significant number of posts, too. You’ve done well, and I like reading your blah, blah, blah. =) Here’s to another year and another 300+ posts!
Hi Susan,
At first I really felt like I was talking to myself but now I get a few comments. It has been a fabulous year with all the people I’ve ‘met’. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations quite an accomplishment. I love the giraffes. So cute.
Hi Christi,
Another vote for the giraffes – I’m doing an informal count in my head and I think that is the most popular pattern. Good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
I love the patterns that she designs, and have a few already. I would love to also have the giraffes. Our oldest grandchild is getting married in the fall, so I am starting to think baby quilts:)
Hi Nancy,
How wonderful and fun! Our niece just had her first baby this past year – almost 6 months ago now, and it is just the best. So many things to sew for him! Oh the possibilities. Good luck on the raffle and thank you so much for visiting and commenting. ~smile~ Roseanne
You have a lot of quilt blog posts for one year!!! Congrats and keep on smiling!!!
Hi Nancy,
Thank you so much for your sweet comments. Here’s to another good year. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on a year!!
I love all of Lorna’s patterns and have made elephants on parade and some of the Christmas blocks!
Ducks in a Row is close to my heart–reminds me of my own family!
Hi Liz,
Oh, I agree – those Ducks in a Row are SO darn cute! Close to my heart because who doesn’t like those duckies?! Best of luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
Omg there all cool but yess the giraffe in a row looks like it would be fun… happyness04431@yahoo.com
Hi Anna,
Your vote is for the giraffes, too. I totally agree – they are too cute. Good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
I would choose giraffes in a row. When I first saw it, I knew I needed to make it.
Hi Kathy,
That’s exactly how I felt when I first saw those giraffes. They’ve been whispering in my ear ever since. I wish you good luck in the raffle. ~smile~ Roseanne
I would choose giraffes in a row. Thanks for the drawing and congrats on your first year.
Hi Maureen,
Thank you for reading and good luck on winning the giraffes! ~smile~ Roseanne
I’ve always loved Lorna’s raccoon pattern AND THEN she created the giraffes! I do like her creativity. Happy anniversary! My goodness time flies when you’re having fun.
Hi Karen,
Time does fly by quickly, and thank you for your good wishes. Good luck in the giveaway! ~smile~ Roseanne
This giraffe pattern is so cute!! Congratulations on your blogiversary!
Hi Mary,
Thank you so much! Good luck in the giveaway. ~smile~ Roseanne
I love her Forest Friends, but the Giraffes are a close second! I have made her Elephant Parade and loved it! Congratulations on the anniversary and thank you for the give away!!
Good Afternoon!
Forest Friends gets your vote – it would be interesting to see which of Lorna’s patterns is the favorite. Good luck and thank you for visiting, commenting and entering the giveaway. ~smile~ Roseanne
I have only followed your blog for a few months and would never have imagined that it was so young. Thank you for all you have shared with us and may you enjoy many more years of blogging. I know I will continue to enjoy reading your posts. Lorna has some awesome patterns. Every post seems to be just one more that I want to add to my “to do” list. It has been a hard choice but I think I would choose “Kissy Fishy” as my pattern choice should my name be drawn.
Hi Audrey!
Thank you for following us and commenting. We appreciate it very much. Kissy Fishy – what a cute name. I’m going to have to go look at that one. Good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
You (two) have had a busy, successful year of blogging! Those are amazing stats! Congratulations. I am one of the lucky Bloglovin’ followers that found you. I’d love to make the Teddy Bear pattern from Sew Fresh Quilts. Hats off to many more great years of blogging and sewing! duchick at mchsi dot com
Hi Kathy,
We both thank you for following us! Sue may not write much (can once be called much?!!) but she hears all about our followers and comments. The Teddy Bear pattern it is – good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations and happy anniversary . I love all her patterns could not choose just one.
Hi Theresa,
Thank you so much for visiting and commenting. If you win you are going to have to narrow the choices down to just one! Good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
You two(?, LOL) have done so well with your blog in one short year…doesn’t time move faster when you are blogging! I think I had about 100 pageviews my first year so you are doing something very right (and smart!). Very cute giveaway but I don’t need to be entered; I enjoy reading your blog and seeing what you are up to. Also keep showing food…see where my interest lies…sadly… smile
Hi Jocelyn,
Thank you for your sweet comments! Yes, the two part is a question, isn’t it?! This year has flown by and I met so many great friends. It’s such a friendly, welcoming community. ~smile~ Roseanne
Happy Blogiversary! The stats were so interesting…amazing to see where all your visits come from. I love, love, love Lorna’s patterns and have made a few.
Hi Carol,
I love looking at stats – not that I know what to do with them or anything. Maybe I’ll learn something in the New Blogger blog hop. Hopefully Lorna has a pattern that you haven’t tried if you win! ~smile~ Roseanne
I follow your blog & get your newsletter.
Hi again,
Thank you for following us and good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
i enjoy your blog and congrats on your anniversary. It is a hard pattern choice but I lean towards the “Dog Gone Cute” pattern.
Hi Rosalind,
I agree – it is a hard choice. I love that pattern as well. I think I need to make one of those for our sweet boy. ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on your blogging anniversary! I like the Little Blooms pattern, but I think I would still choose the giraffes. I follow your blog on Feedly…..don’t leave me out of your count!
Hi Shannon!
I won’t leave you out of the count. I didn’t know about Feedly . . . or how we got on there. ~smile~ Roseanne
Lorna has so many great patterns, but since I LOVE giraffes, this one would definitely be my choice!!! Oh I hope I win, hehe.
Hi Vicki,
I hope you win, too! I just love those giraffes, but I have to say it’s a tie between those and elephants for my favorite animal. ~smile~ Roseanne
Happy Blogiversary! What a fun giveaway! I’ve thought about getting that pattern from Lorna. I did get her little fox, but haven’t made it yet. I’d love to win.
Hi Wendy,
Thank you and I hope you do win! I haven’t started on the cute little giraffes yet – I’m hoping it will be needed for the second great-baby . . . ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations 🎊
Hi Michelle,
Thank you and good luck! ~smile~ Roseanne
Congratulations on your anniversary! I should probably choose one of Lorna’s quilted squirrels quilts – make it and hang it as a reminder not to go chasing too many….. 🙂 but if I was only buying one of Lorna’s patterns, today it would be elephant parade. xx
Hi Dione,
Thank you and I like the elephant parade as well. Who doesn’t like elephants?!! ~smile~ Roseanne
Congrats on the anniversary and my word those stats are so impressive. Awesome.
Hi Kathryn,
Thank you so much! I can’t believe it’s been a year already. ~smile~ Roseanne
