To-Do Tuesday #214 Weekly Listing Update

Join us today for the 214th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We are joining Chris at her To-Do Tuesday linky party.

To-Do for the week of May 25th – 31st:

  1. Start quilting the QOV – I hope, I hope! – √ Done!!!
  2. Complete the quilt top of our arrows for the Follow QAL – √ Done
  3. Enjoy a nice LONG weekend and Memorial Day – √ Done

To-Do #1

The Road to Oklahoma block is our May One Monthly Goal project. As a Hands-to-Help (H2H) project as well, it will be given to a principal friend that is retiring who is a Veteran. The deadline of June 2nd is very quickly approaching, like tomorrow!

The long weekend was enough to get this project complete, I am happy to report. Thursday night I cleaned my sewing machine, put in a new needle, wound five fresh bobbins, and laid the layered project on my table.

Fresh spirits early Friday morning were all set to GO. And then – the error in row six. The one single star point facing the wrong direction. To rip or not to rip. Ugg. No ripping ensued. I may regret that decision but it is a decision – no turning back. Stars and loops to travel between to the next star happened. Using variegated thread in red, white, and blue by Coats and Clark, the quilt was ready for binding by Friday night. More to come after the gift is shared on Wednesday.

To-Do #2

We joined Sandra’s quilt-along called Follow Your Own Path which started in early April. Last week, we did complete all four arrow colors in red, yellow, green, and blue.

A wee bit of discussion evolved around borders: needed or not?, one or two?, and finally, which color strip should go where. A quilt top was born which only needs a backing and to be layered for the final parade on June 15th.

We sure are pleased with how this come together and turned out! Thank you so much, Sandra.

To-Do #3

Heck yes, we enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend very much. We have annual flowers to enjoy, we started a new jigsaw puzzle, enjoyed our peeps and littles, and sleeping in beyond 4:30 a.m. My friend Preeti started a new QAL on May 30. It is called the Positivity Quilt Along and it runs through September at a nice pace.

I shared some details about the QAL and our potential fabric choices once they arrive.

May OMG

Our one monthly goal (OMG) project for May is to complete the 35 30 blocks needed for the Quilt of Valor (QOV) gift and Hands2Help project. Patty at Elm Street Quilts hosts a monthly linky party and we shared our quilt top finish called Road-to-Retirement. Yippee!

To-Do for the week of June 1st through 7th:

  1. Settle on a June OMG
  2. Finish quilting our arrows for the Follow QAL parade on June 15th
  3. Start enjoying my bestie’s birthday month

Oh yay! You got it done! Great job–and I can’t wait to see the final pic! (At least you found the error before you were totally done!). You’ve gotten a lot done and now I need to go see what you are thinking on the positivity quilt. I’ve chosen my scheme but it’s a little out of my comfort zone–kinda crossing my fingers and hoping it works!

  2. I bet tonight your QOV is all finished and ready to be presented tomorrow, Roseanne! The borders on FYOP look great, too! That’s my next decision to make on my version. So glad you enjoyed your long weekend!

Sometimes you just have to choose your battles! Good luck on the finish and Happy Birthday to your bestie!!! I too, celebrate Birthday Months. LOL

The star quilt is one of a kind with its own unique story! Beautiful.

Hooray for a decision and you are well on your way to finish! I have 4 quilts ready to mail for H2H but it might not happen until after PA. Need to see what box they might fit in! I rather think the star is waving at someone and whimsy is a good thing. Have to name my OMG, haven’t played in a few months, just behind in deadlines!

  6. Vicki in MN says:

I am so happy for you that you had a productive week and weekend!

  7. …and tucked in between all your quilty fun you took care of the needs of your machine – obviously a faithful workhorse!
BTW: I like your decisiveness on going with the flow of that ‘errant’ block. In a way, it’s part of the story of its completion.
    🙂

  8. You amaze me with all you get accomplished! Both quilts are beautiful!

  9. Great finishes! You can tell your friend that the “error” was your Amish twist to the quilt. I think?? it’s the Amish that always stitch in a boo boo? I think I read that somewhere! At any rate, it’s beautiful and can be the signature block for the quilt! Love your Follow Your Own Path quilt!

  10. Wendy Tuma says:

Yay for getting the quilt finished, and you have the FYOP top done too! Woohoo! You’ve had a good week.
