Orange You Glad You’re Reading This??!

2020 Monthly Colors

Crayola Kaleidoscope is the name of this fabric collection we are using for all of the 2020 blocks. This month, Jen’s inspiration is the Oriole.  This birdie features a beautiful orange breast with black highlights.  My friend, Wikipedia, told me “the Baltimore oriole is a small icterid blackbird common in eastern North America as a migratory breeding bird. It received its name from the resemblance of the male’s colors to those on the coat-of-arms of Lord Baltimore.”  I’ll bet you didn’t know that!  Orange you glad you do now??

March Orange Piecing

March prep

Sue started cutting the necessary pieces for me and then it was time to start sewing.

Flying geese were the order of the day when following Jen’s pattern.  I have never made flying geese this way, but it works slick.

March Orange Ta-Da

Here is our third monthly color challenge block for 2020 in a rather striking layout.  I never would have thought to use the flying geese like this – thanks to Jen!  The mini pinwheel in the center just makes me happy.
