Fireburst and Plus Playtime QAL Updates
We are participating in two QALs in spite of me, and I’m still alive to speak about it. Sue was about to kill me with the exciting news.
Fireburst Fun
If you recall, only one of us was participating in the Fireburst QAL hosted by Dave and Tish from Tish’s Adventures in Wonderland. Sue has since then changed her mind mainly because of this picture:
She said if I was going to pull fabrics like this that didn’t match (and they really don’t) she can’t have her name on it. I would have to change the blog to Home Sewn By Us Me. Sew, we selected this fabric instead which is much more to both of our liking. Those circles above are still calling to me – we’ll find something for them soon!

Here the Fireburst fabrics are all cut and ready for the next step which is piecing. June 1st is the released date for those Instructions and tips.
Plus Playtime QAL
Our second QAL is called Plus Playtime hosted by Sandra at mmm! Quilts. Sandra’s finished quilt is featured on Modern By the Yard ezine #7, and its colorful fabrics drew us in right away. Playtime QAL started with a listing of fabric requirements on May 1st. I knew right away that we had to use this Hashtag fabric:
Here are all the blocks cut and labeled – flashback from the Postcard quilt only not quite as many labels! The next instruction and tips for sewing row 1 were released on May 22nd and will call for the design wall to be used for sure. We do not want to start off on the wrong foot in the very first row! Here is our potential layout for row 1.

Great starts on each of your QALs. Good luck on keeping up but with the two of you working on it, you should at least have fun. It will be fun to watch your progress.
I had my fabric picked for Fireburst but really don’t like the background which is white grunge because it is so….white. Time will tell if I use it or decide to go shopping again.
I still have not pulled the fabrics for fireburst-I still have a few days so why hurry, LOL I approve of your choices;)
These are looking fun! I best get crackin’ on mine. Nothing is even cut, but I do at least have the fabric!
I like both fabric choices for the fireburst QAL – but I can see the second grouping really being beautiful!
