Blogiversary Five – Time for a Celebration Giveaway

We celebrated five years of blogging on February 12, 2022. It sort of snuck on me, so I wasn’t prepared for a big wingding then. Five years of being a blah, blah, blah babbling about sewing and quilting and littles and loves. Where has the time gone, may I ask?! Also, you may not be aware, but the fifth anniversary is traditionally celebrated with wood. I find that to be odd, but I guess nothing says five-years-strong as well as wood. We cannot buck tradition, can we?!

Creative ideas were bounced around like crazy, as you may well imagine. What says wood to you, we asked each other? Paneling, especially the 70s version in many family rooms. Needless to say, we are NOT giving away paneling of any sort.

Five Years of Blah, Blah

Lest you think I’m not a blah, blah . . . the proof is right here in the Grammarly pudding. One hundred ten thousand words checked in one week. If that doesn’t say blah, blah . . . I don’t know what does. HAHAHAHA!

Five Year Celebration 1.0

How do you think we should celebrate?? We tossed around doing a sew-along, hence the two buttons shared above. I had the bright idea that we could have a sew-along for the Cottage Stars tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Company and we’d call it Home-Stars. I’ve been jonesing for making some houses lately and thought that maybe someone else might like to as well. Then I thought, no. Too much work, potentially too much stress. Keeping my motto for 2022 which is no-stress in sewing/quilting in mind . . . the sew-along was set aside. You could probably twist my arm slightly for me to host one if there is interest. We ARE going to make the table runner. Sissy actually sorted through a charm pack and selected fabrics for 13 of her houses.

The name of the fabric charm pack is Buggy Barn Basics which we may have had for a while. The muted stars in every shade are incorporated in her choices. I might have shared some details on Instagram last weekend because I wanted to try cutting and sewing the first cottage or two. I randomly selected cottage/house #5 for the door fabric. Our plans include modifying the pattern a bit . . . to fit our (her) needs.

Five Year Celebration 2.0

Since the sew-along was set aside, what to do? What to do? Back to the wood discussion. More serious suggestions came for a needle holder, buttons, pin holder, seam roller, and wood-theme fabric. YES! Those are five solid items that our friends might actually want and use. Online I went, searching for just the “perfect” items we had in mind for a giveaway.

A Five Year Giveaway Celebration

We will randomly select five winners from the comments left on this post. It is open to everyone and the comments for the giveaway will close on Saturday, March 19th at midnight (CST). The five items that contain wood or suggest wood are:

  • Wooden buttons (with a heart in the center!)
  • Needle holder
  • Pin holder with a wooden base
  • Seam roller with a wooden roller
  • Birch trees on a green background – one yard piece

Why did we pick birch trees, specifically, you may wonder? Well, that was my mom’s favorite tree. When she died, my sister had me plant a birch tree which is a favorite hosting spot for cardinals. Cardinals did, indeed, visit and nest in that birch tree. I like to think that my mom visits and nests there each year. ~smile~

Join The Giveaway Celebration Please!

The easiest and only way to be selected for one of the giveaway gifts is by leaving a comment. Open from March 12, 2022, through March 19, 2022, at midnight (CST) only. We will use a random number generator to select the winners . . . or possibly Dominic if we can get him to draw paper from a bowl (old school) on Sunday. We will notify the winners via email and if we don’t hear back, we’ll move to another winner. That won’t happen though because everyone will be waiting with bated breath for notification! By the way, I had to order an extra seam roller for myself. I’ve always wanted one – I may have had one in the past but it is a mystery where it might have gone. Good luck to one and all! Any questions, you know what to do. If you’d like to follow us, that would be awesome, too.

  1. Well congratulations to you two! So happy to have met you (maybe one day in person, I still think positive about a mid-west and southwest Ontario meetup of a few of us). I have really enjoyed reading your blog, seeing what you get up to, watching the kiddies grow… I think we all need some low-key days don’t we. Glad you are looking out for #1 which is really what it’s all about. Just like on the plane, put your own mask on first so you can help your child and then others.
