Monday Musings & To-Do Tuesday #12

Two of our friends host a weekly linky party. Brenda at Songbird Designs has a Monday linky party called Monday Musings. Our friend Carol at Quilt Schmidt hosts To-Do Tuesday with a linky party as well. We will share our weekly updates on both of their websites.

To-Do for last week:

  1. Start on Chase’s dinosaur quilt
  2. Update on the Cub’s t-shirt quilt
  3. Two limit list for a stress-free week

To-Do #1

We decided now that Chase is two, he will soon need a big boy bed quilt. Our friend, Rosalie, had made a dinosaur quilt for her great-nephew a few years ago. We thought that might be fun to make for Chase so we borrowed her pattern. We elected to use a blue background instead of green.

This is going to be a project that is heavy on the appliqué which I don’t mind one bit. Seven dinosaur shapes have been cut out and a trial layout formed. We are underway!

To-Do #2

We are happy to share an update on the Cubs T-shirt quilt! Here is Carol with her son, Eric, and his newly finished Chicago Cubs t-shirt quilt. I had to share the backing showing how nicely the print lined up for the seam. Eric couldn’t find the seam until he was allowed to use his hands. The binding Carol used is a cool red and white striped print. That was just the perfect choice, in my book.

Final Stay-At-Home Round Robin Linky Party

The Stay-At-Home Round Robin 2023 has its quilt parade starting on Monday. Head on over to Quilting Gail, who is hosting the final linky party/parade. We announce the winners of the sponsored gifts are announced by the 27th.

We shared our final project yesterday morning with a sewing machine to represent our sewing space.

To-Do for the week ahead:

  1. Work on appliqué for Chase’s dinosaur quilt
  2. Something else for a break from appliqué
  3. Low-stress limit!

Hope your week is going well, as you can see I am a bit behind….but catching up. Love Chases new quilt – and I am sure he will too. Almost did the Elizabeth Hartman dinosaurs for the new baby, but liked the farm animals a bit better.

  3. What a fun dinosaur quilt it is going to be. The blue is striking and makes the dinosaurs stand out. Well done on the T shirt quilt. I am doing little bits and pieces but slow moving, maybe i’ll get to a post next week!

  5. That dino quilt is going to be fantabulous! I know Colt will love it for his big boy bed when he gets it! Great work on the T shirt quilt. I really like the sashing and cornerstones! Thanks for linking up with Monday Musings. I hope you have a great week!!

You’ve been busy! That dino quilt is a fun one! Great work on the t-shirt quilt, too!

  7. Good for you for continuing with your low stress focus with your weekly project goals, Roseanne. I wonder – are you finding overall greater satisfaction in this manner of approach? I’m inclined to think so!
    🙂

  8. Linda says:

Gosh that dinosaur quilt is so cute. And the Cubs quilt is amazing! Hope you are having a wonderful week. 🙂

  9. Rochelle Summers says:

Oh, My! Such progress on the dinosaur quilt. It looks so fun completed. Do You use a stabilizer under the quilt when appliqueing the dinos down? I knew you were working on the t-shirt quilt but didn’t know you had completed it….but I guess you had to in order to work on the Dinosaur quilt! Sue’s rule, right? I’m looking forward to more dinosaur quilt and the “something else”. Hugs my friend.

  11. Cheree Hull says:

That dinosaur quilt is gonna be so loved! Perfect for a dino-crazy kid! Hubs would like the Cubs quilt! He’s always been a Cubs fan (we took in a game up there one year) though he doesn’t watch much any more. Looks like you had a good week!

  12. The dinosaur quilt is wonderful, Roseanne! I love the colors and fun design. Congratulations on getting the t-shirt quilt done, too. That’s always a big accomp, ishment! There’s only one thing on my to-do list this week – get the binding on my SAHRR so I can join the party!

  13. Vicki in MN says:

The dino quilt is going to be fabulous! I like the cornerstones addition to the Tshirt quilt, giving it a bit of character instead of just butting up Tshirts next to each other.

  14. Michele McLaughlin says:

Wow! I love your Dinosaur quilt! That’s a lot of applique but Chase will go nuts for it! Well done to you and Sue! I love the Cubs quilt too, the cornerstones add a great touch! Wishing you an easier week and sending hugs!
