To-Do Tuesday #258 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 258th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Linda hosts the To-Do Tuesday linky party and we thank you, Linda!

To-Do for the week of May 24th through 30th:

  1. Beats me! – √ Done
  2. Second annual PositivityOrdered fabric!
  3. No more – stress-free motto adherence!

To-Do #1

Our friend, Carol, keeps us on top of things from our local quilt shop. Recently, she dropped off a fabric kit she purchased for herself and us of a sunflower hanging.

Over the weekend, I thought it would be a good time to start reading the kit and checking out the fabrics. By Sunday morning, I had all the pieces cut and sewed into the basic units. At least I thought I did until I went to lay it out in the final rows.

That’s when I discovered I sewed all four leaves in the corners (dark green fabric) backwards. Ugg. Sue found a replacement fabric that might make an appearance but for now, all the blocks are stacked up and set aside. I texted Carol to advise her NOT to make my mistake!

To-Do #2

The second annual Positivity QAL started on Sunday. Preeti announced fabric requirements one day and also the block tutorial another day. We waited to see what the fabric requirements were and then we ordered some fabric from Green Fairy Quilts. They were having a sale on Riley Blake precuts so we found a pack of 10″ fabrics that we liked along with some tan solid fabric. As soon as it arrives we will begin making a quilt for the quilt-along. Thankfully, it’s slow-paced so we can easily catch up.

Our selection for the fabric is For The Love Of Nature by Teresa Kogut. The layer cake pieces will the enhanced with a Bella solid tan fabric. This color palette is outside of our usual choice of bright colors. It’s time to mix things up a wee bit we thought!

To-Do for the week of May 31st through June 6th:

  1. Survive the single digits of the last days of the school year!
  2. Perhaps start cutting the Positivity pieces if the fabric arrives
  3. Two limit for another stress-free week!

  1. The Sunflower is a beauty. S&*# happens. I am sorry about the oops. I am sure you will take care of it. Still hoping and praying for Ukraine, in between bouts of grief for my own country where we don’t need enemy soldiers to kill our young.
Thank you for the Positivity QAL shoutout. You keep me sane. Lots of love to you, GF.

  2. Hi Roseanne. Sweet sunflowers and I’m in love with your Positivity Quilt! Have fun on these last few days of school. 😉

May your summer be full of littles and fun! And I love that sunflower block!!

  4. Pity about the leaves, how annoying. All the best for the last days of school and them summer holidays! Well I hope so anyway! For the Love of Nature looks very nice.

Yes you should have a light week to get through the school year and then you can concentrate more on sewing! I am sorry you had a mishap with the sunflower leaves, been there done that myself:( You mentioned you cut it out…what happened to Sue helping in that department!!

  6. What a fun sunflower design! However, I’m more impressed with your resolve to just set those mis-sewn leafy blocks aside and move on to something else…good girl!

I so appreciate that you are sticking by your plan of 2 items to keep it stress free. Quilting is supposed to be relaxing!

Lovely Sunflowers, Roseann. I don’t know if the rest of us would have caught on to the mistake. But once I’ve discovered a mistake, it is all my eyes can see. I’m looking at my fabric for the Positivity QAL. It’s a blue package I bought for something else and then changed my mind. So, once I finish a couple of other things, I’ll start cutting (an sewing). The last grandbaby graduates middle school tomorrow!! Don’t know how time could fly so fast. Have a great week.

  9. Yay for the last days of school for you!! Have fun with the quilt along. The fabric you chose is awesome!!

  10. Kathleen McCormick says:

Well, that is a pretty block. Hope you can recover from that mistake. Looking at the photo, it appears to be solid so you should be able to rip out and sew on the opposite side. The good news is you will survive the last few days of school and get on to summer fun. And keeping your list short is undoubtedly working for you!

  11. Wendy says:

You have a good list for the week. I meant to mention the Positivity QAL in my post and then forgot. Sigh. I’m not sure if I’ll jump in or not, given my energy level. Those sunflowers are so pretty!
