To-Do Tuesday #224 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 224th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” This week and going forward, we are joining Linda who is hosting the To-Do Tuesday linky party.

To-Do for last week August 31st – September 6th:

  1. Add borders to Addison’s ballerina quilt – √ Done
  2. Continue applique on a Halloween table topper – √ Done
  3. Celebrate Dominic’s 4th birthday! – √ Done

To-Do #1

We got a chance to spend some quality time working on Addison’s ballerina quilt this week. After determining exactly how to add the sashing between the smaller ballerina girls, we ran out of purple fairy fabric. Darn it! I quickly put in an order with Hawthorne Supply Company – it came on Friday!! Talk about quick service and it was truly appreciated.

The general outline of the quilt top is on the left with the smaller ballerinas in each corner. We added two strips of fairy dust fabrics between the four cornerstones except for the right side of the large center block. That’s when we discovered the shortage of purple and we paused. After Sue cut the final piece needed for the stars of the quilt, it didn’t take long to have a nearly complete quilt top. At 66.5″ x 82.5″, it needs a border to bring it to a generous width and length for a full-size bed.

While we were officially celebrating Dominic’s birthday, we measured the quilt on Addison’s bed. Since we couldn’t reach two sides of the bed, we just covered up all the babies. Yup, the idea we have for the stars will work well . . .

To-Do #2

How did we spend a long holiday weekend with no stress? We finished a jigsaw puzzle that we had been working on for at least a month or two! A quilt top test on a sweet girl’s bed during her brother’s family birthday celebration was another feat. Sneaking in a little time on a Halloween topper completed our tasks on the list. The mummy’s face and eyes just make me smile.

To-Do #3

The 2nd was Dominic’s official birthday but we had a family celebration yesterday. What was on the menu for the party, you ask?? Sandwiches, potato salad, more presents and singing Happy Birthday! We’ve been practicing the whole singing and blowing out the candle just as often as we can. This was cake number four with the FOUR candle!

Of course, the main event on Monday was the small family gathering. Dominic had a Blaze truck on his birthday cake, and plenty of helpers opening his gifts. Trains, footballs, and a Hot Wheels track set with cars are just some of the spoils he received. It was such a fabulously fun afternoon.

September OMG

For Patty’s Elm Street Quilts OMG linky party for September, we will attempt to finish Addison’s ballerina quilt. Getting it all complete by the end of the month sounds like just about the time she will need to snuggle underneath a warmer, big girl quilt. Don’t you think?

To-Do for the week of September 7th through 13th:

  1. Add the final borders to Addison’s ballerina quilt
  2. Continue appliqué on a Halloween table topper
  3. Layer and start quilting the ballerina quilt – maybe??!

Wonderful week of list checking. I love how the ballerina quilt is coming together. It is frustrating to run out fabric in the middle of a project!! The mummy is cute. I love the way you’ve highlighted the bandaging on its face! So creative. And Dominic is such a big boy. Just how did you practice blowing out candles? That would have been fun. Yum for the food and the cake. But really, presents are the best.
