To-Do Tuesday #225 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 225th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” This week and going forward, we are joining Linda who is hosting the To-Do Tuesday linky party.

To-Do for last week September 7th – 13th:

  1. Add the final borders to Addison’s ballerina quilt – Nope
  2. Continue appliqué on a Halloween table topper – √ Done
  3. Maybe layer and start quilting ballerina??!! – HAHAHAHAHA!

To-Do #1

When we did a mock test on the size of Addison’s ballerina quilt over the holiday weekend, we determined that it absolutely did need a final border.

The idea we have is to incorporate stars into the two side borders. Originally, they were to be added to the top and bottom edges but the quilt is already long enough. We made a test star block that will finish at 10″. Since we are satisfied with the test block, only five more needed to be made. My Sue sous chef was unavailable so I had to cut all the pieces myself. WOW – I missed her!

I got a chance to use Allison’s diagonal tape to make the star points, a.k.a. half-square triangles. The tape works very niftily – not a single mark is needed to sew all 20 pairs of HSTs. Cool, huh?!

That’s about as far as I got. Well, technically, I cut them apart and ironed them. When it came time for trimming I was distracted by a squirrel project that I can’t share. So, the final borders will have to wait for next week, I guess.

To-Do #2

While I have been having some fun doing appliqué on the two Halloween table toppers, I can’t share any more photos. Why not, you ask?! Because we are going to be joining Carol at Just Let Me Quilt and her Ghastly Ghouls blog hop in October. Our day will be on Thursday, October 21st so you’ll have to wait until then for show and tell. That’s pretty rotten but they will be worth the wait, I think.

To-Do #3

This third to-do item was fairly ambitious especially considering that work is still nutso crazy busy. This certainly did not happen, mostly because the final borders aren’t on – see #1. Sue and I did make time for a bonus yoga session on Wednesday night. I am quite proud of us for that AND even more that we’re planning for another one this week, too. Our Saturday morning session had all three of us feeling superb for the entire day.

September OMG

For Patty’s Elm Street Quilts OMG linky party for September, we will attempt to finish Addison’s ballerina quilt. Getting it all complete by the end of the month sounds like just about the time she will need to snuggle underneath a warmer, big girl quilt. Good thing there is still half of the month left for a finish.

To-Do for the week of September 14th through 20th:

  1. Make 5 stars for ballerina quilt – please, make them!!
  2. Get the final borders on – just get the quilt top done

Wow your background for the ballerina quilt is great! It is so hard to find that perfect confetti fabric for backgrounds. Good luck with your list and enjoy your busy schedule!

Hey, sometimes life gets in the way. Hmm, where have I experienced this lately. LOL! I know you will get things in order soon and that quilt will be done. Addison needs it for her snuggles!

You are doing just great! I love that you are doing yoga…I love mine and my teacher has been off, but its really no excuse. I can’t wait to see your hop entry. Re-entry to the fall is always busier than I imagine. 5 stars is less than one a day….maybe once you get going they will practically sew themselves. Here’s to a good week and power from the energizing yoga!

Can’t wait to see your Halloween toppers! That diagonal tape is sure nifty! I sure could use a Sue sous chef!

  5. I think it’s so cool that you’re doing the yoga, and if that takes up a little sewing time, that’s okay! Those stars are going to be pretty on A’s quilt, but that cutting does take some time. Looking forward to the fun blog hop in October!

  6. Fantastic! Looks like you’re having fun churning it out!

  7. Rochelle Summers says:

Oh, so much progress. The best I think was that yoga. I’m so happy that you are taking care of yourselves! I hope this is an in-person class. You are moving forward on that ballerina quilt and that is what counts. Our mornings have been cool and it feels good to have a blanket to snuggle under. Can’t wait to see those halloween table toppers! Have a great week.

  8. Linda says:

Ah Roseanne, Addison’s ballerina quilt is going to be fantastic! I’m pulling for your making those stars. I’m rudely jealous of your yoga sesh – did you do it at home or go somewhere?
Thanks for linking to To Do Tuesday!

  9. Wendy Tuma says:

Well, there was no blood on those pieces you cut, so you must’ve at least remembered how – hahaha! You keep moving projects forward each week, so that’s a good thing. I like that star for the ballerina, I’m sure she will too. Can’t wait to see the secret projects!

  10. Vicki in MN says:

I love that you always have more than one project going too!! I juggled three yesterday and finished them up. Looking forward to your blog hop toppers!!

  11. I wish you Good Luck in getting The ballerina quilt done, or almost! I think it’s going to be so sweet!

  12. You are the little train that could…you can get that top done! 🙂

  13. Well, Roseanne, not to have your Sue souz chef cutting your HST’s, you did a great job! Though not always the most fun, we CAN be chief cook and bottle washer (when we need to be), as my Mama used to say! LOL Good luck with your list this week. That quilt is going to be so cute. I have my project materials ordered for Carol’s hop and hopefully will feel all better by the time they arrive. Have a great week, my friend.
