To-Do Tuesday #223 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 223rd weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We are joining Chris at her To-Do Tuesday linky party.

To-Do for last week August 24 – 30:

  1. Start adding sashing and borders to Addison’s ballerina quilt – √ Done
  2. Start working on a few new table toppers – √ Done
  3. Celebrate Sue’s mom’s 86th birthday! – √ Done

Yeah, we are back on track now, I think. Three of our babies came over on Sunday; Colty is in semi-isolation because we don’t want to get GG sick. How did it get to be the very last day in August??!!!

To-Do #1

We got a chance to spend some quality time working on Addison’s ballerina quilt this weekend. Saturday morning, I posed the question on Instagram about using yellow or purple strips as sashing on the smaller cornerstone pieces.

The overwhelming vote was for yellow, which we love as well. However, a certain sweet girl’s favorite color is PURPLE. What to do, what to do? Use both colors, of course!

Are you wondering what response Addison had when we shared an update with her??

To-Do #2

As promised, an appearance on my sewing table is a hexagon shape using background fabric that truly was cut in March. This is the first of several table toppers in my very near future and this is our very first one celbrating Halloween.

This particular topper features Frankenstein, a friendly green witch, and a mummy. Sue has been busy creating a stack of items for me to buttonhole once I finished some very important ballerinas. You’ll have to stick around to see how the second Halloween topper is different.

To-Do #3

Yesterday was Sue’s Mom’s official birthday but we had a celebration on Sunday. What was on the menu for the party, you ask?? Coffee, juice, and brownies with cream cheese frosting. All of it was a hit but especially the frosting!

First, Dominic had to assure GG that he was ready to sing Happy Birthday before opening presents. Then, he was ready to blow out the candles while little brother, Chase, carefully watches. Chase wants to make sure he’s ready for the next birthday celebration. Shortly thereafter, the brownies were cut and eaten, and presents were opened with assistance from D&A. GG said she had the best birthday EVER.

September OMG

Since we completely missed Patty’s Elm Street Quilts OMG linky party for August, you can bet your sweet bibi that we will come up with something for September! Thankfully, we have until tomorrow to decide. Two options spring to mind . . . like the two projects shared above. We’d better decide!

To-Do for the week of August 31st through September 6th:

  1. Add borders to Addison’s ballerina quilt
  2. Continue appliqué on the Halloween table topper
  3. Celebrate a nice long, relaxing holiday weekend

Ah purple and yellow couldn’t be better. I love how delighted Addison is.

  3. Hi Roseanne. Using yellow and purple is the perfect solution to the question you posed. I’m not surprised your Ballerina loving girl was doing pirouettes when she saw the progress on her beautiful big girl quilt! Ooh those hexie toppers will be a real hit come Trick or Treat time. Such fun was had at GG’s birthday bash! Good luck on the new list 😉

  4. Addison’s quilt is turning out so cute, Roseanne! I agree – use both colors! Sounds like you’ve been enjoying lots of family time, and that’s the best. Cute Halloween tabletopper in progress, too!

You were clever to use both colors, and I can see by the twirl it was a hit! Got a big lump in my throat at the GG birthday party, because she reminds me of my sweet Mom. Hope you do indeed enjoy a long relaxing weekend.

Great job on all of the above. The birthday celebration sounds like a real hit and having the littles help in the celebration makes it all the more special. I love the ballerina quilt and it looks like Addison does too. I’m looking forward to seeing the other Halloween table topper. Do have a restful holiday weekend! You deserve it.

Good call on using both colors. It is really an adorable quilt. How fun to celebrate GG’s birthday – kids do love it at that age – the candles, the singing, the cake and ice cream – what is not to love! Now, I too need to declare a goal for September….and I host TGIFF at the end of the month so I better set some goals…even small.
