To-Do Tuesday #209 Weekly Listing Update

Join us today for the 209th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update on a Monday. Since I missed last week, I thought I could get away with posting one day early. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We are joining Chris at her To-Do Tuesday linky party. Thanks for the fun, Chris!

To-Do for the week of April 13th – 26th:

We sort of took a little break from sewing for a week, and with these easy goals, it wasn’t hard to do so!

  1. Start working on the Road to Oklahoma quilt blocks – √ Done
  2. Choose the layout for Paris and buy fabric(s) – √ Done

To-Do #1

One of the principals in the school district where I work is retiring this year and I’ve elected to make a quilt of valor for him. Using the Road to Oklahoma block, we need to make 35 of them for a decent size lap quilt for him. One down, 34 to go!

To-Do #2

Not only did we get to visit a local quilt shop but we were successful in finding THE perfect matching fabric. The red/orange color in the Paris panel is a tricky shade, and one that did not exist in our stash. However, after scouring the shelves at a new-to-us quilt shop (how did it open without us noticing?!) we found these gems. Just perfect, don’t you think?!

Now we can decide if we want to add flying geese, nine-patch, or just a red/orange square in the border to widen the panel. We are choosing between the three different layouts I shared in last Tuesday’s To-Do update.

Oops – I forgot a To-Do #3

I forgot to include in last week’s to-do listing that Sandra’s quilt-along called Follow Your Own Path started. Earlier this month she shared the cutting instructions for a throw size quilt, while the baby-size instructions can be found in the Modern By the Yard ezine, #15. We have a couple of different fabrics and colorways that we were considering for this QAL. It’s certainly not too late to join in as it runs through mid-June.

April OMG

Our one monthly goal (OMG) project for April is the Paris panel completion in a quilt of some sort. Patty at Elm Street Quilts hosts a monthly linky party which we did join at the beginning of the month.

To-Do for the week of April 27th through May 3rd:

  1. Holy moly – set a May OMG project goal
  2. Get going on Follow Your Own Path
  3. Plan for Addison’s big-girl bed quilt

  2. Yeh for going back to the fabric store!!! You found the perfect fabrics to coordinate with that panel! It’s amazing! So sweet of you to make a quilt for your principal! Can’t wait to see Addison’s Big girl quilt! I’ve been really remiss on posting and checking the internet during this garden season but I’m so glad to see you and Sue are doing well! Hugs!

  3. That fabric is a perfect match for the panel!! Great find!! The QOV blocks are great. I know that throw will be much appreciated!

  4. Still trying to ‘subscribe’…still have a few things to try, too, like clicking the box to be ‘notified of new posts by email’ at the end of this ‘leave a reply box’…we’ll see how that works, eh?!
Meanwhile, love the orange fabric – oranges are like reds and blacks – shades vary alot!

  5. Roseanne, I love the star fabric for the principal’s quilt! It’s going to be gorgeous, and what a lovely retirement gift, too. I’m excited to see what you do with the panel! Hope you had a great day!

What wonderful fabric and a great excuse to go into a real fabric store. The only way to really match colors since computer matching is blind luck!! Didn’t this month just fly? Great to see your post.

For a minute I was confused, thinking this was Tuesday and I totally missed Monday! LOL. LOVE the fabric match for Paris!!! Good luck with this week’s list. The Linky goes live at midnight.

Yep, a perfect match–yay! I can’t believe it’s OMGoal time again. Oh my gosh where is the time going? You’re nice and early on your to-do’s. Haven’t even started on my post, mostly because I’m not done with my to-do’s!
