Spring Wave Quilt Top January OMG
Continuing the successful year of OMG linkups in 2018, we are happy to announce another completion for this first month of 2019. The focus sure seems to help us. Patty at Elm Street Quilts is the wonderful host, and there are some new sponsors for this year. Check out all the other finishes for January!
Spring Wave for Hand Quilting
We started out the month with a new project on the design wall. Some fabric labeled “boy dot” was in our stash, which Sue placed up on the wall. We decided to use the fabric destined for a border to make nine-patch blocks instead. A-stripping-away we went with the blues in the center instead of on the outermost edges.
Spring Wave on the Design Wall
Sue laid out this charm pack in color waves which is not our norm. Sandy from Gray Barn Designs suggested in the comments just how springy the colors looked. Hence, the name Spring Wave came to be.
Nine patches were sewn and a quilt top was born. Doesn’t the classic Irish Chain design really stand out once the rows are together?! We also added a pretty blue border all around to make it a bit bigger and to really pull that color and fabric as a focus in the quilt top.
January OMG – Spring Wave Quilt
Ta-da, here is our Spring Wave quilt for the January OMG. It is all layered and hooped, ready to go. Sue will now start hand quilting this little gem. Basic shapes are going to be used for the quilting design, such as square, circle and triangle. Before you know it, she’ll have it complete and I’ll share another update. We appreciate Patty for hosting this link up!
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!

I have never hand quilted. I see it’s pinned, but do you also use basting spray?. I just wondered if it does any shifting when you hoop it.
