QAL – Postcard from Sweden Quilt
Sandra from MMM Quilts is hosting a quilt along for the Postcard from Sweden quilt. I have had this on my short list of quilts to be made. This is actually for myself, to replace my very ugly, outdated queen size quilt that I wrote about last fall.
Shannon from Flemings Nine really inspired me with her Postcard quilt in her October 5th post. There is not one thing I don’t love about this quilt, and I am especially drawn to the lovely yellow binding.
Postcard Fabrics:
By the end of October, I had two stacks of fabrics that could be used along with some of the Regatta blues.
And then life happened, and these pretty fat quarters were set to the side. Until now and the quilt along that started on February 14th. We came a little late to the party but I think we can catch up.
Sue has agreed to help me get all the fabrics sorted out. The pattern is available for free on Craftsy if you would like to join in! We are going to enlarge the pattern to a queen size using 6″ blocks. Sixteen by seventeen rows consisting of lots and lots of half-square triangles. I think we can do this. Right?! Here are our first two blocks:

I love these postcard quilts. I look forward seeing what you come up with!
Hi Sally,
Thanks! I’ll be showing all the colors soon. The triangles s/b all cut by the 28th. ~smile~ Roseanne
Roseanne, Way to go for starting your very pretty quilt. I think you are going to have so much fun! I look forward to watching your progress. 🙂
Thank you Cindy! Thirty-six colors, all of them bright. I can’t wait to see it on my bed. ~smile~ Roseanne
Oh it is sure to add a touch of sunshine! 🙂
Me too!
Wow! The Postcards quilt is gorgeous, as will yours be 😊
Hi Abbie,
Thanks so much! I was really intimidated by the sheer amount of colors and fabrics but once you take it step by step, it’s not too bad. Just a lot of gorgeous colors. ~smile~ Roseanne
Step by step is the best way 😊
Love the fabric. It will be beautiful.
Hi Lori,
Thank you! A lot of work but so worth it. ~smile~ Roseanne
🙂
I’m excited to see yours with those lighter shades! I am working on two twin sized postcard quilts right now. They are fun to look at with all the bright colors. I keep thinking…oh, I love this color and that color!
Hi Shannon,
We’re not using all the colors in the taller bundle – 36 pretty bright colors. That’s the best thing about it, to me! I love those brights. ~smile~ Roseanne
My Postcards is on my list of things to work on today. I like that stack of fabrics you have, and you’re ahead of me with two blocks done! Looking forward to seeing all the quilts as we stitch together!
Hi Wendy,
That’s all that’s done – two blocks. I discovered that I do not have enough fabric so I quickly ordered some yesterday. All the math had to be figured out but I think we’re on track now. ~smile~ Roseanne
That is a great stack of pretty solids, will make a dynamite quilt!!
Hi Carole,
It is amazing that it took me four months to cut into them! So pretty though – I just wanted to enjoy them all stacked up. ~smile~ Roseanne
