Purple Simply Woven Quilt Finished

The queen-size purple-hued quilt that we made for my niece is back from the longarm quilter.  Woot woot!  This is the first time we used a quilting service.  We chose Corner to Corner Quilting Service, which is a local company operated by two sisters.  We met both Linda and Ellen when we dropped off the quilt only ONE WEEK ago.  Yes – they managed to get it completely quilted and back to us in just a week.

Purple Love

It turns out that Ellen is a huge fan of purple, and she did the majority of the quilting.  I think that one week is a fabulous turn-around time.  We certainly would never have been able to complete it ourselves in that short of a timetable.  Since she has been waiting over a year, I know my niece will be delighted.  Here is a close-ups showing the quilting:

Something that was just by happenstance is the thread we chose for the quilting.  The thread is called Vibrant Violet, and that was my mom’s name.  Just a little sign for us – we knew we selected the correct color when we heard the name.  ~smile~  We will be delivering the quilt soon (not next weekend though because we’re going to a big sale!).  I hope to take a picture of her with her new quilt and also snap a photo of the old one that we made back in 2003.  Neither of us can remember what it looks like!  HAHA

And here is how nice the stitching looks on the backing:

I think the quilting really makes the border look like it was planned all along.  I’m not even a purple fan, and I kind of love it now.  You may look forward to one more update on this quilt when it is finally in its forever home.

Now that was really fun, to see the quilting after seeing the quilt in your most recent post. I’m still blown away by how pretty this quilt is!

We just had some cool weather in the Chicago/Midwest area . . . so she was really able to snuggle under it. I still don’t know what to do with her old quilt . . . ~smile~

  2. Very pretty! A week is pretty fast. Until I found Trudy, the quilting services I used were usually more along the lines of 4 to 6 months turn around.
