Happy Memorial Day and Flags to Salute You!

Happy Memorial Day to all our friends in the USA. Just a few pictures to express our sentiment for the holiday. We will be displaying flags for the day. The first is a yo-yo flag hanging above our fireplace through September. The second will be an American flag hanging from our porch railing.

Wise words by JFK.

So many flags to represent a fallen Veteran.

Volunteers continue to place flags each and every year in our Veterans’ Cemetery. We thank them for doing that but even more, we appreciate all of our Veterans. Their bravery, commitment, and willingness to give their life for our freedom is nothing short of amazing. I am proud to be an American every day.

Not related to flags one bit . . .

Remember I mentioned we are adding a new little to our crew last week at the end of our Kicking Butt post? We have plans for Zoey the Zebra, and here is her sweet little face.

I would like to add some texture to the hair on his head and his tail. Any suggestions on what I could use that wouldn’t hurt a baby and can withstand many washings? I could use some Minky but that doesn’t seem quite right. It’s just not quite the best choice . . . Hmm.

How about mini prairie points for extra texture.

  4. Happy Memorial Day! Great words by President JFK!! My thoughts on Zoey, which is adorable…why not add a little extra fluff to the quilting underneath those parts and make a trapunto type tuft and tail? Just a thought. Other than the sherpa, I’m not sure about a texture for her. Have a great day!

Happy Memorial Day to you and yours! Love that zebra for the new little. I like the Wendy’s idea of sherpa….but also think I might let it go, and save the texture for a toy or two. It won’t need it other than the texture you give it by fabric choice…a black on black with some variation will help and the quilting can help. Embroidery can do some of that too and withstand a littles loving touch! So, I give you permission to find texture another way. OH, and I just remembered that texturizing interfacing that you sewed on (bosal has some on MSQ) and I may have some I can send that I bought for bag making and did not use but in the apartment….but I will be there next weekend.

What about Sherpa for Zoey? It has a little fluffier pile than Minky, but it’s very soft. You’ve had a busy weekend! Happy Memorial Day to you all!
