Geo Pop Fabric Win and Pattern Tester

Sometimes, things are just meant to be and everything just falls into place.  Isn’t that just the best when that happens?!!  That is the case with these Geo Pop fabrics and a new pattern soon-to-be-released called Star Cross Plaid.  Becca at Pretty Piney asked for pattern testers.  I raised our hands, of course, for a variety of reasons.  Two of those reasons are one) because I wanted to help Becca, and two) I’ve wanted to make a Buffalo plaid-type quilt forever.  I picked up my computer to shop for some possible fabric choices for this pattern and saw a “Winner” email.  What??  Much to surprise and delight, Debby at Debby Kratovil Quilts told me I was a Geo Pop fabric winner.  Thank you, Debby!!

Becca’s pattern could be made in so many different colorways.  We thought we’d try for a slightly more boyish hue.  We love our sweet girl very much, but boys need cute and ‘pretty’ things too.  The seven, one-third yard pieces of fabric we won are designed by Christa Watson for Benartex.  Since the Star Cross Plaid pattern uses between three and ten fat eighths/quarters, this is a total match.  Six of the fabrics won fall easily into the boyish colors category.  Here are the lovelies that came in the mail from Debby.  We are leaning toward using five of the seven fabrics in this quilt (two stars in each fabric).

I can’t share too many details about the pattern until the full reveal on November 4th.  We are making the baby-sized quilt which has a block that measures nine inches finished.  The fun Plaid background pieces will be made similarly to Becca’s version using black, gray, and white solids.  Thank you to Becca for letting me share her cover photo for her pattern!
