To-Do Tuesday #227 Weekly Update

Join us today for the 227th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We are joining Linda who is hosting the To-Do Tuesday linky party.

To-Do for last week September 21st – 27th:

  1. Start cutting for the Two by Four QAL – √ Done
  2. Applique or buttonhole some additional table toppers – √ Done
  3. Start quilting the ballerina quilt – Nope, nada!

To-Do #1

Katy and Deanna launched a new quilt-along called Two By Four QAL. Cutting has started on the needed 160 rectangles and 280 squares. Did we find that a 20 FQ bundle is enough to make a 60″ x 80″ quilt? Not quite but 22 would be perfect so we are supplementing with stash fabric. Eventually, this will be my leader/ender project . . . or a filler, if you will. The finished size quilt is just perfect for the Merciful charity.

When Sue started cutting, it seems that she can get enough pieces from one fat quarter while the next one comes up short. We’ll have to report back once we have everything cut out as to how many FQs we actually need.

To-Do #2

I have been enjoying some time doing buttonholing or applique. A Thanksgiving topper is in the works for Sue’s sister. Being able to share the details here makes me long to just be at home, sewing away!

This is going to be fairly quick to work on, especially that pumpkin! It’s hard to see in the photo but the background looks like small pebbles. We are halfway done already – now to pick out some sashing fabrics.

To-Do #3

At the beginning of last week, I would have said there is no flippin’ way I was going to start quilting the ballerina quilt. It was TOO HOT. By mid-week, the temperatures took a dive so snuggling underneath a quilt actually sounded good. Quilting still didn’t happen, though, mostly because it needs to be layered first.

To-Do for the week of September 28th through October 4th:

  1. OCTOBER!!! Get ready for a Ghastly Ghouls blog hop
  2. More applique on some seasonal table toppers

Pretty pieces cut on that 2 x 4. Lucky Sue’s sister on that table topper. Hope you are able to “just be at home, sewing away” like you want to!

I resisted the Two and Four!!! But yours looks like I will be lovely.

Lots of fun in your world. That leader ender project looks to be a good one to keep in mind. Good luck with your week – looking forward to seeing your quilting on the ballerina!

    Hi,
Pretty fabrics for your QAL. Love your Thanksgiving Topper…so festive.
    Have a great day!

  6. Your 2 x 4 fabrics look really pretty, Roseanne! Keep cutting, Sue! I love those fall blocks you’ve been appliqueing, too. They’ll make a great runner for Sue’s sister. I’m glad the fall weather is coming to your area – it’s been hot here, too. Have a great week!

Finally, it’s fall!! Driving back from husbands PT appt this morning going by the park and there is a string of trees with golden leaves! Temperature dropped today to 62 but it will be back in the 80s later this week. I know when there is time, the ballerina quilt will get quilted. In the meantime, the Thanksgiving topper looks great. I will be curious to see how many fat quarters you use for the quilt along. Have a great week.

It was like the weather turned a switch and said “let there be fall!” It’s made it a wonderful week in central Virginia. Thanks for the heads up on the 2 and Four Quilt Along. (I just spent way too long looking at all the info about it!) Hope you get the cute fall handwork done soon.

  9. Have fun with your goals this week, Roseanne!! I hope to finish block 8 in the next couple of days!! And then I must start on my Ghastly Ghouls project!! So glad I finally feel like doing something! The weather has been slightly cooler here too. So thankful to be able to get out and sit in the sun!!

  10. I like the fabric choices for your Two by Four QAL squirrel! It will be fun to see a different colorway! 🙂

  11. Wendy Tuma says:

I need to get the next step in the Two and Four done – maybe that will happen today. I haven’t gotten a Tuesday post done either. This week has been busy with lots of things not on my list. That fall project is a cute one. Isn’t the cooler weather fantastic? A little hot has snuck in here again this week, but it’s tolerable, knowing it won’t last.

Did you draw up your leaf and acorn sprig, it’s just perfect !! Some FQ’s seem skewed IMHO and therefore one can’t get the same amount:(
