To-Do Tuesday #20 & Monday Musing

Two of our friends host a weekly linky party. Brenda at Songbird Designs has a Monday linky party called Monday Musings. Our friend Carol at Quilt Schmidt hosts To-Do Tuesday with a linky party as well. We will share our weekly updates on both of their websites.

To-Do for last week:

  1. Finish two penguin toppers, or a Dr. Seuss quilt top, or a journal cover?
  2. Sew a cradle quilt for donation
  3. Two limit list for a stress-free week

To-Do #1

The journal cover is complete but not without some dumb issues. After sewing around the top and flipping it to the right side, I top-stitched around the entire piece. Of course, I have miscut everything just a little short, so the top stitching needed to be VERY close to the edge. That didn’t quite happen but I made it work.

Additionally, I was able to list it in our Etsy shop and amazingly it sold within 24 hours. I am quite pleased with that and it makes me want to sew more. We have a whole stack of leftover jelly roll pieces. It would be nice to use them up!

To-Do #2 Unplanned but Worthy of Sharing

Carole over at From My Carolina Home is collecting small quilts in a cradle drive. The drive is looking for 18″ square quilts which will be given to children as Christmas or holiday gifts. You will see cute cradles, wagons, or rocking chairs that are coupled with a small quilt and a bear on Carole’s website. Goodness, they are so sweet and oh so quick to make. They really need some that are appropriate for boys. Carole asks that if you would like to make a cradle quilt, please mail it to her by the end of October. Thank you so much!

I was thinking about the cradle quilts and some options I have that are more boy-related. I had two leftover Hot Wheels pieces that were 9.5″. Add some solid fabrics in red, blue, or gray and it would be a perfect 18″ quilt. Then I started laying out the pieces and one was missing about 2.5″. Nuts. I do remember I had an issue while making the last car quilt so I had to cut into this extra piece. I’m sure there is something else that would do but I didn’t feel like digging in our stash. That’s Sue’s forte . . . I don’t want to step on her toes, after all (too lazy, you might say). I have to leave something to do for next week, right?!

What To-Do Next Week?

  1. Finish two penguin toppers, or maybe a Dr. Seuss quilt top, or make another journal cover? (Are you tired of this yet?!)
  2. Make a cradle quilt or two
  3. Maybe nothing – no stress!
