Giving Project Quilting Season 11 a Try

Project Quilting Premise

Project Runway has a couple of big fans in Sue and me.  We have been watching it for years . . . since the very beginning, I believe.  Someone by the name of Kim Lapecek at Persimon Dreams had a brilliant idea for Project Quilting.  Rather than a day to finish a garment challenge, the premise is similar to Runway except that you are given a week to finish a quilt/fabric project.

Project Quilting Week

One week to finish a whole project you say?!  Depending on the challenge assigned, we all know that it is very possible and doable.  Why would one subject themselves to the stress and/or pressure?  I often think that same question when watching the inspirational show, Project Runway.  I cannot say why I want to . . . but I do.  Thankfully, Sue said sure . . . why not?!  What’s one more project that isn’t on The Master List?!

2020 Master List

Personally, I think The Master List is a bit short with only 40 items on it.  It’s just asking for new items to be added to it.

11.2 Project

We missed the first challenge for this eleventh season.  Darn it – I hate coming in after the beginning of anything.  But late to the party we are, and now we are ready for the second challenge.  It will be released on Sunday, January 19th and just thinking aloud, it is rather on the path of a “mystery squirrel” project.  Mystery, because you have no idea what the challenge may be and Squirrel because you definitely have to drop everything else and work on it.  Sounds fun!

Check out the links above for more information.  Kim has lined up numerous sponsors which are very impressive to validate the entire concept.  More later, gators.

Join us each Tuesday for our hosted linky party called To-Do Tuesday.  Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

    Hi Roseanne!
I hadn’t heard of this before! Perhaps it’s not available in Canada???
Your posts can be so tempting … another squirrel??? As if I need anything new to do! It DOES look like fun, though! hmmm … will have to see what the challenge is on Wednesday!
    Happy Quilting! 🙂

An interesting concept. Good luck on the first clue. Looking forward to seeing how you approach the challenge.

  4. I also didn’t know about Project Quilting and will also be cheering you on from the sidelines. I can come up with my own insane deadlines all on my own!

  5. Kathryn says:

Sounds fun, I’ll cheer you on from the sideline. Laughed at 40 projects master list just needs a few more. Every list has a right to grow!

  6. I had no inspiration on the first one, lets see if the second one gets me…. You will definitely have a few squirrels creep in and it sounds like ProjectQuilting will be one or two of them!

It is abundantly clear that Sue loves you to the moon and back because you are a quilting madwoman! Hahaha. I may or may not be checking this out…Thanks – from one madwoman to another !

I have also watched PR from the beginning, but I can no longer get the channel, so I won’t be watching it anymore.

I am going to click on that Project Quilting link and check it out, but not participating…too much on my plate already! 🙂

Curse you with a smile for posting about this fun challenge which I was totally unaware- like Wendy I must be living under a rock and also like her I might join in sometime-Grandparent House permitting

  10. chrisknits says:

I definitely will be staying as far away from that as possible. I don’t need Mystery Squirrels, I have enough Normal ones!! LOL

  11. Denise says:

Seeing this list and some of your To-Do’s I have to remind myself there are 2 of you working on these projects.Poor Sue.

  12. Apparently I live under a rock. Didn’t know you could watch this, but where? (The Project Quilting link has an error) YouTube? I didn’t get in on this week, but I think I might jump in on one of them at some point. We’ll see.

  13. Jayne says:

Like you I’ve watched PR from the very beginning! I’m amazed at what is created in such a short period of time from the designers. I can’t wait to see what the mystery clue is and what you make for it. I’m not brave enough to do anything that’s a mystery! I’m glad there are those who do because its fun to see!

I did Project Quilting with Kim a couple of years ago! It is a challenge to come up with an idea based on the word or idea given, but it is fun! I was a little late to the party also but was able to do a quilted pillow cover (not a quilt) for the 1st clue.
