To-Do #110 Weekly Progress Update

Happy Victoria Day to all our Canadian friends.  This is the 110th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We usually share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts and at Becca’s What I Made Monday website on Mondays and Christine’s Stitch All the Things and Dione’s Clever Chameleon website on Tuesdays.  Check out what our friends are sharing!

To-Do for the week of May 13th through 19th:

  1. Beothuk half square triangles trimmed –  done
  2. Color block for May – √ done
  3. Work on Rainy Day quilting project – √ done

To-Do #1

Mother’s Day gave us the opportunity to work on these HSTs and get some of them all trimmed.  Then I noticed that I had sewn the fabrics backward on a pair.  Thankfully I noticed before I trimmed them, and they HAD to be fixed.  It would stick out like a neon sign blinking error, error, error.

Yo, yo, yo they are all trimmed now.  Sandra shared the next step for the quilt along on the 15th and it was time to make eight blocks.  On Saturday I had a few balls in the air – trimming, Bee Hive blocks, and a new squirrelly project.  However, the eight blocks were finished and shared in a post yesterday Yes – Beothuk Eight Blocks Together.

To-Do #2

Completed just yesterday, the color block for May is Lime.  Not without an almost-oops but my bestie saved me from Mr. Rippit.  All the dets will be shared tomorrow but here’s a little chain-piecing peek-a-boo.

To-Do #3

Rainy Day is all quilted, and Sue is tacking down the binding by hand.  By the end of this week, our OMG project should be a wrap and I’ll share a post about all the details.  A post about spiral quilting is pending as well.  For now, you will have to settle for a picture of the binding going on.  I just love this dark purple solid fabric framing the quilt top.

May OMG

Our May OMG (one monthly goal) is to finish quilting Rainy Day with a spiral inspiration.  We share this intention with Patty at Elm Street Quilts and thank her and the many vendors for the inspiration.  On point to get this complete for the month.

To-Do for the week of May 20th through 26th

  1. Rainy Day finish – binding and everything done
  2. Squirrel project that must be done for the 25th!
  3. Enjoy a long weekend for Memorial Day which is technically in the next week

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

Lots of productive sewing going on here! Always nice to catch that ‘oops’ before it is sewn into blocks. Happy stitching, ladies!

  7. Denise says:

I had a mistake over the weekend that turned out to be an easy fix. Instead of unstitching 36 blocks I only had to remove one set of 6 and move to the other end. Shew I got lucky too.

  8. Vicki in MN says:

I hope this week finds you as productive as last!

  9. You’ve had a good week, and I can’t wait to see Rainy Day. Can’t wait to see what you are cooking up next!

  10. Oh I can’t wait to see that Rainy Day quilt! And read that future post about the actual quilting of it. The last bit of attaching the binding on a quilt (the hand stitched part like the prep shown in the photo) is one of my favorite parts to do. Especially now that I’ve gotten those clips – less pin pricks HA!

Looks like your week is off to a great start.
    🙂
